    James Quick Tillis

James Quick Tillis clearly set the blueprint for defeating Mike Tyson. Quick Tillis fought Tyson very early in his career, before Tyson had hardly over 20 wins. However, It is very clear if you examine both fights that James Buster Douglas used the blueprint set forth by Quick Tillis in his defeat of Mike Tyson. It is really clear as day if you look at both fights. Does anyone agree?

If only Quick Tillis were not at the end of his proffessional fighting career and more physically gifted when he matched against Mike Tyson I am quite sure that he would have been the first one to defeat him.

hmmmmmm no. douglas put more pop in his punch's and sat down on all of him. tillis was throwing snaping little punches. and ran circles around tyson. and douglas did pop pop pop and did a slight move to the left or right

I have a ton of repsect for Tyson's fighting abilities. I really do believe that he is one of the greatest of all time. If he he wasn't he would not cause the intriuge that he does to this day. However, I think the Quick Tillis blueprint, in the hands of a primed, focused, conditionned fighter always at the very least gives him problems.

Clearly you don't know the first thing about boxing. Tillis was a big step up for a 19 yr old heavy, and Tillis fought a very clever fight to survive Tyson's obvious power. Still, Tyson was able to cut the ring and knock him down sucessfully.

Douglas was a much bigger, more powerful man who caught a poorly trained Tyson. That's the blueprint, catch a poorly trained Tyson. Tyson was never the same fighter after signing with King and being sold downriver.

Just to be fair, Tyson didn't just stalk Tillis and drop him, Tillis missed a hard hook and Tyson caught him. I also think that even a properly trained Tyson would have had trouble with the Douglas that showed up that night. I feel that if Tillis had been in better shape, he probably would have won that fight.
