how is fighting at 164 or 166 an advantage for ward?

The CW is ment to take an edge off Ward's size & strength advantage, especially since his goal to maul Golovkin. I doubt 166 would have much impact on Andre, where I'm sure 164 would complicate his training camp. That said, he & Hunter have said the weight cut is easy to make so he'd likely rehydrate to normal condition and still be the bigger man.

Unless Ward believes he can make a CW and still be near 100% on fight night, there won't be a CW. It comes down to money then. The idea of this being a 50/50 negotiation is absurd.

He never said it was an advantage for Ward. He's simply pointing out how GGG has more options at 160 along with HBO's backing than Ward does at 168 with limited opponents and a new jack promoter who is still trying to get his foot in the door.

Basically Ward needs GGG more than GGG needs Ward. That coupled with GGG being a bigger revenue generator makes him the A-side. I see Canelo stepping up to the plate to face off with GGG if he beats Cotto. That fight is a big $ maker. GGG vs Lemiuex is also a great fight to be made and Oscar already stated that he's on board with making that fight happen.

Golovkin can stay on HBO and fight the Tureano Johnson's or Heilands for million dollar paydays while he waits for a major fight with Alvarez and Lemieux. He also has the potential to move up for Froch in the UK, something Ward was unwilling to do. Andre Ward just lost his promotional company $2mill. They papered Oracle Arena with comp tickets. He only drew 326k viewers on free tv. Breadman's good friends with Hunter, but Golovkin is a clear A-side here.

What are Ward's options at 168? He stated recently he won't travel to the UK for DeGale (so forget Groves as well). Steiglitz/Abraham are staying in Germany. Kessler is retired. PBC is off-limits. Rameriz/Hart are with TR and won't be available for atleast another year.

In summary, not only is Golovkin's marketability stronger, but he's the one who has to concede a weight advantage to Ward while holding greater options within his own weight class.

There are three possible fights for Mayweather where he can get paid the way he's used to:

a) Khan at Wembley

b) Rematch with Pacquiao

c) Final match with GGG

This way, if he wins the first two, he has his 50 wins to beat Marciano.
If he beats Golovkin there is one other possible fight--Crawford.

It's definitely a race issue with Haymon. When you question the haters, their reasons are silly. They can barely build a coherent story to justify the hate.

Why do you think there are so many complaints about Haymon? I saw your last answer and it was awesome you pointed out how certain things were “acceptable” when other power figures in boxing were doing them. But when Haymon does them it’s a big deal. But tell me why you think there is a double standard. Do you think it’s a race thing.
