Nonetheless it would be really cool if Mayweather's last fight was on free TV.

But this is the reality of the situation when you're blatantly cherrypicking.
After everyone calling may-pac the "superbowl of boxing" i'm sure that set the lightbulbs off in TMT heads... If its on network TV and no PPV, im sure TMT will be looking for a slice of the money for selling commercials... All makes a lot of sense, Floyd gets to cherry pick an opponent he can put on a more attacking show against and CBS gets massive viewer figures and props for making it free for everyone

If no Showtime PPV deal in place, Mayweather isn't even forced to fight in September anymore.

I think he would do it just to break viewership on regular tv get a cheap opponent like berto and you are good to go

Considering the lack of quality opponents right now and the hangover from the disappointment of the May PPV card, I doubt a September fight could break one million buys which is horrible compared to previous fights.

I think it would be pretty smart to do. It keeps him godd graaces with CBS/SHO which is good for Mayweather Promotions, It builds PBC where he is a preferred promoter, and he helps Haymon which might help him out when he wants to promote certain fighters on the PBC cards. He's guaranteed 32mil and the advertising may push him past that. I don't see any reason why he wouldn't do it except a onetime payout on PPV.

It is possible the best boxer in the world will have his next fight on a network in well over 100 million homes, at a reasonable start time so more fans can watch, in a fight designed to showcase his skills that fans do not have to pay an additional $75-100 for it.

Other than floyd likely winning, what problems could posters have with this?

He's guaranteed $30 million no matter whih platform or fighter he will be up against. Khan did very good ratings on terrestial TV so he is clearly popular for the casual fans and I think a if Floyd fights him in free tv; it will pull in the higest audience for PBC yet.

Mayweather just nabbed upwards of $200m, I don't think he cares as much about his next payday as some of you think. Besides, he's getting at least $30m regardless. Would love to see his finale on CBS. Fingers crossed.
