Comments Thread For: Mayweather's Camp, SHO Not Ruling Out CBS For 9/12

The hot industry rumor going around is that WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs) will potentially have his scheduled return, on September 12th, carried for free on network television.

Mayweather has exclusively fought on pay-per-view for practically a decade. The upcoming fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas is being billed as his "final career fight."

After demolishing all pay-per-view records for the May victory over Manny Pacquiao, and earning more than $230 million in the process, not much remains for Mayweather to accomplish.

I can remember Floyd being interviewed in April and he was asked if he'd fight on PPV and he replied "I'm a PPV fighter."

I wonder what would change his mind?

Well what else is there to do? I mean he now owns a PPV record that will never be broken.

I don't think Mayweather will get the kind of purse he wants if he fought on free TV. Ppv is how he gets those huge paydays. I don't see Floyd accepting a flat fee; he's always bragging about the money he receives on the back end.

But this is the reality of the situation when you're blatantly cherrypicking.
