Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Promoter: We'd Fight Ward at 164, 50-50 Split

Makes sense, I was hoping they'd not give into Andre "Diva" Ward's demands.
I see the Golovkin haters' comments in this thread, how soon they forgot Ward demanded that poor Paul Smith fight him at a catch weight of 172.
So all boxings prima donnas like Floyd Mayweather, Miguel Cotto, Andre Ward and so on are allowed to demand catch weights, but for some reason Golovkin has to move up 8 pounds for an unpopular opponent?
The Golovkin haters' favorite fighter Floyd Mayweather drained Canelo down to 152. Broner drained Porter, but lost anyway. Cotto drained Geale.
But Golovkin isn't allowed to suggest a perfectly fair catch weight against a bigger boxer?
A few years ago, Andre Ward said he'd fight anybody at 168 and 175. Sergey Kovalev said he'll be Ward's huckleberry. Why not? Ward's last fight was at light heavyweight.Comment

Lets face it, over and over again, boxing experts, not the usual half wits that over populate this place, have agreed that Ward is the ONLY fighter favored to beat GGG between 154 and 168. That said, who is taking the risk moving up? I'm thinking this fight might get made at 166.
Ward said he would fight Floyd at 160, but he won't for GGG. Do GGG haters pick up on that when they bring up Froch? 164 and 50/50 sounds like a fair offer as a starting point to me. Of course if you want to judge the offer by how big of a disadvantage it is for GGG, you might be hard to please.Comment

You should be pleased - it's recognition from GGG camp that Ward is a hell of a threat - something that is obvious when you consider he was #2 PforP recently. Chavez is a laughing stock - I think GGG would fight him at almost any weight. Froch at 168 in Nottingham - speaks volumes about GGG's opinion of Frock.Comment
