What Golovkin's team has to realize is that statements like these open the door for Cotto and Canelo, should they choose to fight Golovkin, to ask for a catchweight as well.

I think the CW is K2's way of forcing Ward to agree to less money for the fight to be at 168. It's called negotiating.

Golovkin's the one moving up and Ward doesn't sell on his own. One way or the other Golovkin's the A-side, money or weight.

That's my take - negotiations start with a weighted offer and you wait the counter offer. Ward fans wetting themselves but lets see what Ward's response is.
