He said didn't want the WBO before the fight. He didn't pay a sanctioning. Was given an extra two months to decide. He didn't answer back. Any reasonable person would conclude Mayweather doesn't want the belt.

This is just part of Mayweather's long obsession with makebeliving to be a boss.

      Last comment of the day...

Can anyone name a boxer in the history of the sport who has "cried" more than Mayweather about something?...

Whether it's drug-testing, not winning awards, ducking fights, gloves, what promoters he'll work with, being stripped of pound-for-pound, and so many more...

Just ******. It's not like the WBO blindsided you. There were articles on here for the past couple weeks talking about how they were receiving no word from the Mayweather camp. If you'd just stayed in touch with the WBO people and made yourself available to them, I'm sure they would have made every effort to make things work with the #1 pfp fighter in the world. You just can't expect the world to give you everything without cooperating in return.

Screw the sanctioning bodies. That's good Mayweather did that.

Then you refused to respond back to them. You ignored all the requirements to hold on to the belt and only speak up after the deadline expired, a deadline that has been highly publicized for over a month. So Ellerbe just shut the hell up already. If Mayweather really cared about the belt then he had ample amount of time to follow the rules and take the proper steps. Or pick up a phone and respond back.
The fact that the WBO, having already scheduled a new world title fight within two weeks of Floyd Mayweather Jr, is a quite suspect move also (no doubt that they picked up a world title sanctioning fee for that fight).

You add that the WBO unification rules seem to be "figure it out as you go", in addition to Floyd making a decision on his career yet (WBO entered into the unification fight understanding that Floyd was dual weight class champion; to have a condition that, if you were to win the championship from our organization, you are compelled to put two other organization's championships into the trash in a bit much).

Floyd still, apparently, has a month to appeal the stripping decision, but if the WBO took two world title sanctioning fees, for the same world championship, within 7 weeks of each other .... Floyd may have a case. Not sure how the matter would be worked through, but all Floyd needs is a bit of time. 8-10 week camp for a fight mid September would likely put the formal announcement of the fight to sometime next week anyway.
