Is Artur Beterbiev the next cross over star?

i watches a few of arturs fights and the guy can throw down. i just wonder what you guys think as i see him as the next east european to cross over like ggg and kovolav have. I cant wait to see him fight stevenson tho as im sure kovolav management will let go of any belt in order not to fight him.

Beterbiev looks very good to me, if there's a flaw it's that his offensive footwork is not the sharpest but that may be nit-picking.

Kovalev would fight Beterbiev on HBO, unfortunately that's highly unlikely to happen.

Can he cross over? it's impossible to tell. The HBO hype machine is pretty effective in terms of building stars, it remains to be seen if PBC can emulate it.

I'm really not sold on him but Eastern Euro's with huge K.O %s seem to be the new in thing currently. They are doing very well but now its like fans are hyping to death anyone that comes through with a good amateur pedigree and decent power.

He is more of a flat version of Korobov than a GGG/Kovalev. He is levels below those guys.

I'm not sold on him in fact he is lucky that wasn't Chilemba in there for his last fight, he'd of got schooled and the hype would be dead already.

Let's be fair, they have fucking phenomenal power lol.

Beterbiev just seems that little bit slower of hand and foot than Golovkin and Kovalev but he's also a couple of years younger, so has some time to adjust and improve.

GGG really isn't a "crossover" star. I mean that's like Pacman, Mayweather, Cotto, Canelo etc. GGG is popular with more serious boxing fans than casual fight fans. The East Euros are quite popular with the boxing fans for many reasons so I think Beterbiev will be quite popular with hardcores but no casual will ever give a dang about him..

He would need to fight Adonis and win BIG to catch that appeal

There are not many stars in boxing: Mayweather, Pacquaio, Cotto, Canelo, Wlad, (unfortunately) Broner and impressively GGG is almost there.

Guys like Kovalev, Ward, Thurman, Wilder are a step below that star level where people in the street recognize them, etc.

Beterbiev will really need to be promoted well to get that far..but the problem is Haymon guys don't really have a promoter so they get on tv, but there is no movement behind them. Beterbiev is actually a GYM fighter but when GYM is making nice fees to put on Haymon events will they actually risk losing money to promote Beterbiev, who they essentially don't control anyway?

He might be the biggest LHW ive ever seen. Dont know fight night weights but on eye test he looks massive.

When you are that physically imposing with punching power, an aggressive style and reasonable skills you are going to be entertaining.

Great that he is fighting on network TV too

Once Ward faces either(or both) Krusher and GGG ,they will become superstars. Ratings for HBO will be high, that then can transition into PPV

I sure hope so. I've been watching Artur since 07 and I've always been impressed. Of course people won't like what they see because he's not a flashy fighter, that's what most people seem to like. But this guy is legit. Got robbed in the 08 Olympics (where he would have probably won the Gold Medal), had he not gotten robbed there is a good chance he would have turned pro after those Olympics. But things happened the way they did and he decided to have a go at the 2012 Olympics (where he fought at Heavyweight, I'm not sure why Artur and Egor Mekhontsev switched divisions, but it didn't make sense to me at all, since both would have most likely been seeded at their established weight classes. Artur-Light Heavy and Egor-Heavy). He fell short again at those Olympics loosing to the eventual Gold Medalist, Oleksandr Usyk. He gave Usyk his toughest fight by far though and in some peoples opinion should have won.

This guys power is legit, he might be the hardest punching amateur boxer of all time. Take Oleksandr Usyk for example, great boxer, Artur was able to hurt him in both fights (they fought three times) that took place at the 2011 W.C. and 2012 Olympics (it was mainly to the body). So why does that matter? Usyk fought at Super Heavyweight in the WSB and he basically outclassed all of those guys which includes: Magomedrasul Majidov and Mihai Nistor (Nistor was the only one that gave Usyk a tought fight) both of whom where able to hurt the big Heavyweight, Anthony Joshua. Majidov and Nistor never hurt Usyk (well Majidov did hurt him to the body but it looked like a low blow, but I haven't seen the fight in while). The fact that Artur was able to hurt Usyk while some Super Heavyweights were not, shows that Artur does pack a punch.

Obviously, he still has a lot to learn as a professional boxer and who knows if he'll be a star. Also, don't take my word on everything. I'm only one guy so obviously I'll make mistakes. But you can watch most of these WSB and Amateur fights on YouTube. It's just so much info I want to write lol, Artur is my second favorite fighter. I rushed through most of this.

                    Watch at around 7:40

Against Sillakh, watch at around 4:51
