gary cornish is tall, 6'7 so actually slighty taller than joshua, athletic and unbeaten. That is good experience at HW considering tall fighters are dominating the division. Not just a short fat plodder, its the kind of prep fights for fighting the likes of wilder.

AJ's doing fine for where he is in his career. He's fighting regularly and is getting in relatively decent opposition. But I guess it's always the most promising prospects whose choices face the most scrutiny.

HW's take time. Always sort of been that way. Joshua is moving along fine. Same with Wilder for all the junk he takes. Both are actually extremely good relative to their age and experience. At Joshua's age, the Klits were both fighting total bums. At Wilder's age, Wlad was getting stopped by journeymen Sanders and Brewster. And Joshua and Wilder dont have near the experience of many fighters coming into the pro ranks. All.fighters build up.there records to get experience..

Thing is though, I dont see why we always need to compare boxers opponent levels to other fighters.

You dont need to compare Joshua's opponents to Wilder's or Klitschko's or Lewis' to see that he is clearly ready to fight at a higher level now. That doesnt mean sticking him in with top level fighters straight away, just step up to a level where the fights are testing him in some way.

Well maybe its business as usual for a "prospect" but the level of fanfare give to Joshua is disproportional to reality. Which causes criticism. Which begs the question..why do boxing fans actually want to see mismatches?

Would people want to see post olympic gold Michael Phelps swim in a high school swimming tournament? Cheering him on, chatting it up about how amazingly he won?

Joshua is a well managed fighter, developing the same way that other heavyweight greats have been brought along. Too bad for anyone who wants to interfere with that for instant gratification. No reason to rush a fighter of his age and potential.

Yeah but I heard Hearn say on IFL that Cornish was staying in Scotland and they were looking at TT or Wach or Whyte.

Until otherwise, I'll believe it. Joshua's was probably asked and said he wouldn't mind fighting Cornish.

LOL Welcome to boxing man. That's the way things are. HW's need a slow build because even the biggest stiff at HW can knock your a** out and delay your career.
