    Anthony Joshuas bum ass opposition

    Just for comparison

Wladamir Klitschko, also an olympic gold medal winner

In his 12th fight, (joshua fought Kevin Johnson in his 12th) fought 30-16-2 James Pritchard.

Prichard had 10 ko losses on his record, but he did last 1 round against johnny du plooy so he can't have been so bad.

it'd be a year and 11 fights until Wlad faced Ross Purrity.

What i'm getting at is all the "Hearn needs to stop feeding joshua bums" needs to stop, this is good progression for a heavyweight with less than 15 fights and only pro for 18 months.

Is Johnson to Cornish progression though?

I'd like to see the difficulty of Joshua's opponents get that little bit tougher every fight, not two steps forward one step back.

It would have been good to see Joshua fight Thompson next, or if not Thompson, Lucas Browne or someone.

They're trying to build towards a domestic dust up with Whyte so Cornish seems like the logical progression. A fairly safe fight, which can sell and keep AJ busy.

But I agree, I'd prefer TT or Browne, then again, Browne is probably too big a puncher right now.

Putting down a quality fighter's opposition seems to be boxing fans' latest and greatest pastime these days. Unless a fighter is fighting a stream of hall of famers or all time greats, his opposition is declared to be bums and tomato cans all the while those who are avoiding him are declared to be in a position to choose their opponents and fully within their rights to avoid him.

Fighters have to earn their name today but no one is expected or obligated to fight them so that they could have any possible way to actually do so. It's happened with Rigo, it's happened with GGG and now it will happen with Joshua. And he certainly will not be the last fighter it will happen to.

What I do is watch and enjoy the fights and ignore the complainers. Eventually what knowledgeable and unbiased fans see will become obvious to all. In the meantime, we will all get to watch a great talent grow and evolve while they ignore him and watch crap instead.

of course, time is on joshua's side, but it's my belief that treading water for too long can ****** a fighter's growth. at this stage i want to see joshua against someone who will test his intelligence and his will. whyte, chisora and price are three domestic fighters who would offer him good experience right now, and the wach fight which we were teased with a few weeks ago sounds like a great idea too

Whyte had an enforced break due to his licence suspension and isn't ready for Joshua immediately, or they would probably be fighting him next

Chisora and Price have both declared themselves willing to fight AJ but are booked at the moment. Cornish would be ok for now, but I'm not sure he actually wants the fight.

Hearn said they weren't looking at Cornish,

Joshua's last 2 opponents have probably been about same level or even higher level than Brook's last 2! Different divisions but you know what I mean.

not really m8. gavin and jo jo dan are continental level. the equivalent for joshua would be david price and shannon briggs

How did Wlad do once he got to the top level?

Development fights should be about developing your fighter. That means learning about your flaws and weaknesses and improving them if you can or protecting them if you can't. I think the time is right for Joshua to be looking at testing himself against some better fighters. Johnson was a good start.

Joshua is so clearly past the likes of Cornish that it makes no sense to put him in that kind of fight.
