Kovalev is a stand up Euro style boxer. That style would get him 12-0'd.

Over 2 fights, Andre proved that Sergey wasn't the T-1000 that a lot of people thought he was.

For months we had a number of people making statements such as:

"Roy wouldn't have lasted 2 round rounds"

"Kovalev would have destroyed any version of Roy"

Now it's time for a reality check.

Although Kovalev would always have been an extremely dangerous opponent for Roy, Roy would had to have been the clear favourite going in.

Roy's speed along with his other great attributes, would have given Sergey an absolute nightmare.

A perfect example of what I've wrote above.

There would obviously have been a huge doubt.

Jones via tko. Too fast, too athletic, and hits harder than ward at 175.

Ward won because when he fights, the ref allows him to be in his small world, do all kinds of bs forbidden in boxing. Jab & Grab, lowblow (borderline or below), heabutt, elbow, and of course a main part of his boxing is wrestling.
Kovalev fights clean. In a clean fight, Ward loses to Kovalev 100 times out of a 100.
Both Ward's victories over Kovalev were highly controversial. 1st one was a razor thin decision that should have went to Kovalev. 2nd one was a joke of stoppage of a fight full of fouls.
Ward is not a boxer. He can't box for shlt. Kovalev was outboxing him and he resorted to non-boxing as soon as that happened.

Roy Jones is a boxer unlike bltch Ward. RJJ and Kovalev would have been an amazing fight. A real battle with real boxing.

Andre only landed one low blow, and I don't think it was intentional.

It was a horrible stoppage, but the truth is, Sergey was finished. He'd been broken both mentally and physically.

Even without the last shot which was a little low, the fight would have been stopped regardless.

I have Roy Jones Jr. winning in a 12 round UD decision.

Kovalev would have some moments but the athleticism, speed and skills of Roy would be too much.

Probably would end in a 116-112 or 117-111 type of decision for Roy Jones Jr.

From the outside, it's tough to beat kovalev. roy would have struggled. On the other hand, if you clinch him, low blow him, and use headbuts it will nullify kovalev. Roy dosen't fight like that though. I'd give the edge to him but not by much.
