Yeah we got Quillen vs Lee, but why couldn't we have had both? Dropping the belt made Quillen look like a b1tch, despite the grieving reason (which is a different story than what was first told).

So when Broner went to Showtime, did you call him a b1tch for it? How about Mayweather or Stevenson?

Never said PBC prevented Kovalev vs Stevenson. That was Haymon, before he formed PBC.

A lot of things are on free tv, but not many of them are worth watching.

Channel 5 does the odd boxing card, I don't bother watching most of the time, PBC feels the same most weeks.

That HBO is getting done as they have done others for so long is to me comical.

As for Haymon it is starting up they need to iron things out and they need a front man boxing guy to really make things work properly. Right now it is kind of rudderless because there is no explanation of the vision of PBC because Haymon doesn't like to be out front, which is fine long run. He does need someone to implement this vision properly and explain it to the unwashed masses so they get what is going down.

I don't care much about announcer, I don't care about entourages, I don't care much about presentation, I don't care at all about ring card girls (not like you see them unless you are at the shows), I don't overly care if the venture is turning a profit or not as long as it is properly trending and the value growth offset the loses to the point that investment still occurs.

It is a long term process that will work it self out, or it won't and it will fail and someone else will come in to try and make boxing work. It won't be HBO though they will be out before Haymon mark my words.
You talk about the tip of the iceberg and then go on about ring announcers and ring card girls, etc.

You talk about the lack of vision but I doubt it's even a serious critique...you'll dump it in a month or so when Schaefer's officially back in the sport.

If that's as far as you're going to go in critizing them, then forget I asked.

I can certaily agree that HBO hasn't invested enough in the sport, but where we would likely disagree is I think a lot of that happened under the watch of Greenberg and Davis....and a lot of the money that they were "investing" in the sport during that time was going to Haymon and Schaefer and their fighters.

You may be right about HBO being out of the boxing business before Haymon. Maybe Haymon will drive both HBO and SHO out of the boxing business.

Because you're a boxing fan. I don't think casuals stream fights from Japan like some of us do.

My point is, we, boxing fans, will watch it anyway because we're fans of this sport. Casuals? Not so much.

I didn't find your critique very serious at all about HBO if you didn't catch my drift. You talked about the contracts and acting as the promoter (which has been their whole deal for decades) but that is why these divides essentially exist in the first place. HBO set this environment and this is the conclusion to that story.

Investment is investment, if they made poor investments with Greenburg and Davis that doesn't mean they should continue to slash the budget (long after they were out) that means they need to change their approach (which hasn't really changed with Hershman at all) and do a better job.

As for the Schaeffer thing, well if he is brought in as the front man boxing guy. That would essentially solve that issue so yea that would cease to be a concern. The question then becomes is Schaeffer doing the job properly, and if he ****s up then who does Haymon have to replace him (I would assume no one)

There are some good fights on PBC and then there are some bad fights. Just like on ever other single network. People complain because boxing fans get wrapped up in these fan wars and these battles of good and evil. It's ******. There should be no way anyone complains about a good majority of the PBC cards. And even now, we have some pretty good cards coming up in the future. But I guess we will enjoy the HBO cotto vs. Canelo fights once or twice a year sprinkled in with Golovkin vs random tomato can #9. Ppl around here certainly get hyped for those crappy ass fights that's for sure. Mind boggling stuff

Free boxing is awesome!! I just don't understand why they can't comply with the laws while doing it? What in the world is wrong with wanting a company to comply with the laws AND give us free boxing? Is that asking for too much?

Whenever I talk to any boxing fans, American boxing IS HBO or sometimes Showtime, not a soul mentions PBC as the standard bearer.

Because Haymon = bad in their minds.

Haymon associated with Floyd = BAD

                      Floyd = BAD

Haymon and Floyd are black = BAD.

If it was some dude from Jalisco, Mexico named Juan Marco Antonio Juarez trying to do what Haymon is doing he'd be applauded.
