As a manager he's doing his job, he's getting his fighters big money for minimal risk but as a (de facto) promoter he's failing miserably, the public is turning off.

It's a shame because he had a chance to do something. Even if the tr/gbp lawsuits fail, where does pbc go? This shit is not good viewing and it simply can't succeed if it's not good.

Maybe if he gets schaefer in he can turn it around, but if it continues the way it's going, it's not going to do anything.
who cares about what theyre getting paid.. You talked about the matchups, again are they any worse than hbo? Theres a reason you wrote those paragraphs and didnt answer the first time

The bigger fights are coming eventually, they have multiple year contracts with networks they have to spread this thing out but eventually you will start to get the big fights.

HBO not giving you anything either but exciting mismatches so that your favorite fighter can score an impressive KO against a Average or Below Average Fighter. To make things worse, that is on a Paid Channel. PBC is FREE!

The FIGHTERS are the one choosing Haymon and that is what this Lawsuit is about IMO, Promoters want to take away a BETTER OPTIONS as far as Money and TV Exposure away to force fighters to stay with them.

If THE FIGHTERS get called to testify as far as how Haymon does business and they're all in support of it...Then What?
I'm not saying the lawsuits are going to succeed, I actually expect them to fail but who knows. My point is PBC is going to fail too if it doesn't improve.

People keep bringing up HBO, but they aren't promoters or matchmakers. Promoters go to them with suggested match-ups. PBC/HB is effectively the promoter and the matchmaker, i.e. they can pretty much do what they want, espec. with the inflated purses.

Saying they're both crap (and both pretty much have been in 2015, along with Sho) doesn't help at all. It just means boxing fans are left with a mediocre (at best) year.

Because the lines are blurred in that regard. HBO can also suggest or demand match-ups they'd like to see. You've heard the phrase that he who has the gold, makes the golden rules, correct?

A network can pretty much control a whole lot too. It's just a matter if they want the control and want to exercise that control.

Not a valid comparison and saying they're both crap (and both pretty much have been in 2015) doesn't help at all.
Where have you been? HBO is now doing the Matchmaking for their own Network!

This guy Peter Nelson is doing the Matchmaking for HBO Boxing Now Allegedly:

So YES HBO are Matchmakers and by them signing guys like GGG and Kovalev exclusively to their network, you might as well call them a promotion

There's no denying they have some influence, but it's obviously not to the same extent. I actually applaud them for telling Bob to get to fk with his showcase fights for Turdo Ramirez.

I was about to post something similar. People who continue to bring HBO into the discussion really have no idea what they are talking about. HBO is a television network and boxing is just one of the shows they broadcast. And it is not close to one of their biggest expenditures. Just about every one of their in house produced series, Game of Thrones, True Detective, Ballers, Brink, not to mention their past shows such as The Sopranos and Deadwood, cost much more to produce than their boxing programming does. HBO has absolutely nothing at all to do with these lawsuits in any way, shape or form.

Not the same thing. HBO are producing a program and ensuring that the 'stars' of that program do not jump to another network or program. No different to NBC giving the stars of Big **** Theory big deals. The deals PBC has with their various networks is more like syndication where the network has little to no say over the content of the program. They are simply selling air time and the content producer can use it as they see fit.

Yes, that's true. But because it is THEIR network, that rule can suddenly change swiftly. Especially if the program gets more lucrative, then you'll see the network begin to exercise control.

                      Some influence?

They have a TON of influence. The one footing the bill (the network) has enormous power.
