It has the potential to be his biggest fight not involving Froch, Alvarez, or Cotto. It'd be bigger than Lemieux, for the same title just one weight class up. It'd fill up O2 arena with 20k fans and be on ppv in the UK and prime time through out much of Europe (as his fights are already purchased there during later hours).

HBO would likely kick in a higher purse on their end as well given the level of competition. DeGale's coming off the Dirrell win on NBC and winning this fight would build GGG's brand much stronger in the UK market and could entice Froch to come out for one more. There's alot of value before & after for Golovkin beating DeGale.

Loeffler doesn't seem to think so.

Realistically what are Golovkin's options right now? When is he scheduled to get back into the ring?

He doesn't have a lot of options. He needs an opponent ASAP, because he's supposed to return in early fall.

Haymon and HBO should put aside their differences and let Lara and Golovkin fight, since Lara really wants it.

I see the "irrational Golovkin hate machine" is in full force. That's very funny - his next opponent is a dishwasher. You could make this comparison with someone like Deontay Wilder, a guy whose fought a lot of bums - but not Golovkin. If you look at his opponents objectively, then you really don't have a lot of fodder for criticism. Let's take a quick look:

Monroe Jr. - solid up-and-coming southpaw MW contender - was the best available opponent at the time.

Murray - tough as nails contender who rightfully earned his title shot by beating good opposition; lost a questionable decision against WBC champ Sergio Martinez.

Geale - Former IBF MW titlist; has fought and beat top ranked opponents for the last 4 years

                    Also, Stevens, Rosado, Proksa, Rubio

Sure, these guys aren't world beaters but they are all top ranked contenders and the best available opponents to Gennady. Is it his fault that the big name fighters of his division don't want anything to do with him?
