Tbf its not even just Ward his opponents are to blame just as much. I mean take the Paul Smith fight it was a clinic but after 3 rounds it got tedious as hell Smith parrying jabs with his forehead and not throwing a damn thing in return, same with Rodriguez.

I have the same problem with Wladimir fights it just gets tedious. Both guys are to blame them for not putting anything behind the jab, the opponents for not trying to take the jab away or counter it. Against these guys which are massively out of their depth, levels below they have no excuse not to try put on a show.

ward used to break his left hand every time he fought, and had a bad right shoulder. he is left handed, and lead hand dominant. he was never a big puncher to begin with. if that's not "an excuse," to box to win on points, i'm not sure what to tell you.

as for wladimir, he's got the worst chin of any historic level HW champion not named floyd patterson. i get why he fights the way he does. he's trying to win boxing matches. emanuel steward was a great, great trainer.

        Klitschko

        Ward

        Mayweather

I don't mind the odd Klitschko fight but he's mostly a cure for insomnia.

The dudes nickname is Klinchko, Compuclinch was invented for him, is there really anything to debate.

I don't get why people say Floyd is a runner. He's not.

I'm by no means a fan of Floyd but I can appreciate the skills he applies in the ring. He stays in the pocket most fights, but he does everything. Ducking, rolling, slipping, moving, you blink he reacts. But we've seen him walk down plenty of opponents, even guys that were out-sizing him by quite a lot. He's not a runner.

well, he's a top 20 HW on most lists. he's usually the guy i bring up when talking about HW champions with a bad chin.

IIRC, he was the only guy to ever regain the HW championship when he beat johanssen. kinda crazy, when you think about that. the names on his resume aren't terrible, and he only lost to very solid fighters.

he also boxed when HW boxing was ridiculously popular in the states, which elevates his esteem. that doesn't speak to his ability, obviously.

If only all 3 would be in the same weight class and fought each other......

For me it's still Ward but I must admit, Klitschko is right behind him these days, followed by Floyd.

At least Wlad and Floyd were in an exciting fights in recent years (Pulev, Maidana I, Cotto). Can't say the same about Ward.
