The list was basically made by Chuck Giampa. I think that might still be the case. It wasn't based on a voting system involving the other writers or anything. I remember Fischer specifically distancing himself from that Broner ranking.

Yes Oscar owns the Ring magazine. Good things happened for Broner when he was with Golden Boy.

I'm no Broner fan but I think the Ring having Lucian "booty" Bute at #4 at one point was worse than Broner being at #6 but that's still de****able...

Broner made the weight as required. You can't complain. ODH and Nonito made a career of doing this. he didn't cheat or violate any rules.

I think you are being much too critical of Broner in this regard.

As for avoided, keep in mind Broner has called Manny out, he didn't get the fight, same as GGG calling out Canelo and Cotto. Even if you think Manny wins, you can't give GGG credit and then criticize Broner.

Respectfully, you are giving more credit to a man that actually won championship fights than you are a man that was given a belt. Is that really fair?

So we agree Broner didn't deserve the ranking, but he has moved up in weight and won fights, same as other multi division champs. It is incredibly unfair and biased to only single him out.
You obviously didn't read what I wrote. I don't have a problem with someone moving up in weight and not fighting the best in the division right away. But the only time he fought the best in any division was DeMarco who wasn't that great. He's never beaten a top fighter and calls himself a 3 weight world champion. It takes away from most 3+ weight world champions who have beaten top fighters. ODH and Nonito both have wins against top guys so you brining them up means nothing.

GGG hasn't beaten any top guys because they don't wanna get in with him. And when was it that Broner was calling Pacquiao out? Because his level of opponents between Maidana and Porter was poor and he was being managed very carefully until Maidana...

p4p rankings are largely a popularity contest

anyone at 140/147 gets hurled up the p4p list based on virtually nothing because thats the current heavily publicized area of boxing with lots of countries represented

Abril was up there, but DeMarco was rated #1. We can't just forget that because its Broner.
Their ratings is worst than their p4p list though. Right now Abraham is the #1 SMW.
Plus who did Demarco beat to be # 1. Linares (who was beating Demarco so bad before getting cut that Steward and Kellerman compared him to fckin Ray Robinson) and John Molina?

To be fair, GGG is also rated top 5 on boxrec, that uses a consistent objective scoring system. That's not to say that it is necessarily a great scoring system, but you can at least demonstrate how the scoring was done (aka not voted on by a panel or Chuck Giampa).
