Comments Thread For: Thurman Breaks Down Why Khan is Third For Mayweather

WBA 'regular' welterweight champion Keith Thurman says Amir Khan needs to wait his turn for a shot at Floyd Mayweather Jr., who plans to return to the ring on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

For at least two years, and possibly longer, Khan has been pursuing the fight with Mayweather.

Thurman has been chasing the fight with Mayweather as well. He feels the only worthy challengers to Mayweather, in September, is himself and IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook - who already plans to return on September 12th as well, but in the UK likely against Brandon Rios. I truly believe the only guys capable of beating Floyd south of 160 are Thurman, and Bradley if he brings his A game, with maybe Crawford as an exception yet he is just coming along too late.

Floyd need look no further for an opponent than these guys if he genuinely wants to test himself, yet I expect it to be one of Cotto, Khan or Berto.

Keith Thurman is honestly full of crap.

He says that Khan needs to fight a true welterweight yet he just fought Guerrero (who is not a true WW) and that's his best win. He just also went on record calling Collazo, who Khan bashed up, a true welterweight, so the guys logic is clearly flawed, and here its no different.

I don't even rate Khan as third anyone of the top ten welters would more than likely beat Khan.Your as good as your last fight and on that showing Khan was pathetic !

Thurman Is Exactly Right! Khan Has Fought NO Top Welterweights Period!

Stop making ****** comments Guerrero is not a Welterweight. Is that why Floyd beat him??? Is Floyd really a 130lber then? Is Khan just a 135lber???? Most these guys when younger, were in lighter divisions. Guerrero grew up physically like most do and is a full fledge Welter. Point is Thurmsn had a war with Guerrero. Floyd wouldn't engage that way. Khan has fought nobody at 147 to deserve a Floyd or Manny payday. Collazo, Alexander, Algieri??? Lol! Porter is even back in the mix. Khan is a weasel, won't even fight Kell Brook who has a belt. Won't fight Porter. Won't fight Provodnikov. Wont't fight Thurman. Won't fight Bradley. Won't fight Guerrero. Khan won't fight ANYONE. Khan won't fight anyone who can hit! Go away Khan-job.

Khan got knocked OUT by Garcia at 140! He got beat by Lamont Peterson at 140. He got knocked COLD by Prescott at 140. Who??? A guy named Prescott! Khan wouldn't even go back and redeem himself of those three blow ups! Khan has done nothing at 147.

                  I agree with Keith Thurman.

Although I think Brook-Rios will be announced soon.

Eddie Hearn said today that Brook is in the running for the Mayweather fight and the only thing that would stop the Rios fight from being announced this week is if a call from Floyd comes.

Khan would be guaranteed a Mayweather fight if he had fought Brook and won. He chose to avoid Brook and now doesn't deserve the fight IMO.
