In fact he'll be almost as bad as Rigo, difference being RN is willing to spend money on opponents, but for how long at multi-million dollar loss per fight?
Ward still has Fedor Chudinov (wba champion who fights in July), Patrick Nielsen (WBA#6, and basically in an win-win situation), and Rogelio Medina (WBA #11, has won four fights in a row, had the shocking win on Showtime not that long ago) to consider before worrying about much; another fight October/November to close out the year and a likely other fight early 2016.

With Ward and Cotto being the boxing faces for Roc Nation Sports (and Cotto-Canelo likely ending up in JerryLand depending on the money being put up), and Roc Nation being a New-York based company, Roc Nation could simply alternate between Barclays Center and Oracle Arena for Ward's fights.

Beyond that, I doubt that they're at "multi-million dollar loss per fight"; Roc Nation was able to sell the Ward-Smith fight to Sky Sports in the UK, likely selling the fight to other international outlets, and the event had sponsorships out of the wazoo (likely thanks to Roc Nation). Ward-Smith packed out the full lower bowl of Oracle Arena, and they likely ended up generating some type of money off of the BET deal (though with no ideas of the details).

they signed him to a longterm deal for a reason.

Ok now that its clear your full of **** we can talk options. GGGs got Hbo all in on him. So they can probably make Lemieux happen, if not next (nobody wants next), then by End of year.

Wards got BET and Porky Medina in the pipeline. Its not that hes not welcome on Hbo, its his asking price is much too high. Roc Nation shoukd just make a strong offer to Ggg, paying 2m fir Medina after Smith is just daft

        • well, ok then..... GGG is looking at Lemeuix now and of course the winner of Cotto and Canelo. Now if Ward stays at 168, what's he got??? Smh nothing. Degale?? I guess. He's a champion now. Outside of that, idk. He should just come up to 175. Fight Pascal! And then Kovalev.

They gave away tickets and still couldn't reach capacity...

I agree with the rest of your post, though. It seems they're playing the long game with Ward.

You add that Heiland-Johnson is seemingly going to happen to lock in the WBC title shot when it comes vacant, Cotto-Canelo is happening in the late fall, Lemieux is likely to keep the IBF title in Montreal for a while, and who is Golovkin supposed to fight, with likely two more fights to close out the year? lol.

defend the can crusher as you wish
Odd how you managed to just write some random **** without relating at all to the post you replied to.

Ward heard the noise, raised his hand, and said, in essence "let's see"; the moment Ward stood up, Team Golovkin started on with the stammering, immediately switching things to wanting to simply unify the middleweight division and crying about how the money simply doesn't make sense, or some other excuse.

If Sanchez had kept his mouth shut, Ward wouldn't be coming for his neck; Golovkin needed to either come out and say that Sanchez was full of **** (which would've made him look like a punk) or stand by those words and deal with the fallout from the **** that Sanchez was talking.

Giving Golovkin the pass that you want to give him would be as if Ward said he was ready for any fight 168-175, 175 lineal champ Chad Dawson came by calling, and Andre Ward immediately ran from trying to make the fight (crying about Dawson not bringing enough money or whatever other bull**** excuse). GTFOH

How about looking past the trash talk and relate to the actual situation here. Or at least give a full Picture where you tell how Ward has said he is ready for anyone at 175.

              • Ward should fight guys his own size as he did in the Olympics, I mean look at this, ward's own promoter showing that ward is not a SMW anymore.

Gennady Golovkin is likely going to have a fight scheduled on HBO this Fall, and the only name that you can bring to your fingers is David Lemieux, lol. The only other name fighter under the Golden Boy banner is going to get thrown in with Golovkin for his first defense? GTFOH.

Roc Nation, with or without HBO, is backing their fighter to the hilt, opening the pocketbook to make fights for him, whether HBO has interest in the fights or not (Putting up $250k as a possible purse for the opponents, puts enough money on the table for most viable options to make the move).

When Golovkin fights a scrub like Tony Jeter (WBA #15, WBC #11), and then hopes to close out the year with Johnson-Heiland winner, I'd hope you don't go into hiding.

People on this site are overestimating the number of tickets that were given out (Ward-Dawson ended up with over 10,000 in the building and nearly 8,000 tickets sold; haven't been able to find anything on Ward-Smith yet, but wouldn't be shocked if the breakdown was similar).

                    • I knew it! Ward staying safe from danger @ weak ass 168 fighting mediocre opponents.
