Time is flying by, why doesnt Ward connect with the masses? what is wrong with him?

Why doesnt the African American community get behind him?
Andre Ward simply needs to get active again; everything else is already well set in place.

Ward-Smith comfortably had 10,000 people in Oracle yesterday (no idea how many tickets were sold, though), and the energy was pretty electric backing Andre. He fights again, come October/November, and that number gets even bigger.

Ward's got a 20,000-seat arena to fill into, with a Bay Area fanbase that's more than happy to go on that ride with him. Put Ward in front of people's faces and he connects just fine.

PBC was handing tickets out too. Yet Ward's tune-up outdrew Broner-Porter.

Considering RN just lost over $3mill last night and will again on the next Ward fight, they need to poney up a big offer to Golovkin. If he wins, then take that momentum up to LHW vs Kovalev.
How did Roc Nation just lose $3m? The event had more than 5 name sponsors, the show was purchased for broadcast in the UK by Sky Sports, there were near 10,000 fans in the building, and they likely were able to make some money off of their sponsored ads during the BET broadcast.

How do you even get to $3m? lol

I'm Irish and I love the black side of Andre so you can **** off with that ****.

              Exactly.

Ward has too just keep winning.

He will never become floyd Pac or canelo.

but he can become a ppv fighter with the right opponents.

People forget Hopkins fought on ppv about 8 times with no real fan base.

              Winning solves everything

                • Ward - $2,000,000
                • Smith - $250,000
                • Undercard - 7 fights, let's estimate $75,000 total (it might be 2x this - Arias just signed and probably got a good amount)
                • lease Oracle Arena - $75,000 (est based MSG in NY at $150,000 to rent)
                • Opertating Expenses (security, electric, insurance, vendors, janitors, parking) - $50,000 (based on average NBA game from Oklahoma)
                • BET time buy - I'm just guessing - $50,000
                • Advertising/Promotional - $50,000 (I don't know what kind of tv/radio/print spots, this could be way higher)
                • Lets be way generous and say that did better than the Rodriguez gate of $277,000 and set it at $300,000. They comp'd and discounted the hell out of that place last night.
                • And raked in another $250,000 from sponsors and ad rev(BET may have collected the ad rev depending on the agreement - probably closer to $100k).

                $(2,000,000) Ward
                $(250,000) Smith
                $(75,000) Undercard
                $(75,000) Arena
                $(50,000) Operating
                $(50,000) BET
                $(50,000) Promotion
                $300,000 Gate
                $250,000 Sponsors
                $(2,000,000) Net

I guessed $3mill expense, looks like $2.6mill expense, then factor in an est $550k rev which yields a conservative $2mill loss. Who knows what they paid the performers. At any rate they still had to front $2.5mill for a single fight knowing they didn't have the tv money behind it. They could front $10-12mill for a major event like Golovkin/Ward knowing they would have tv money behind it and gamble on the ppv buys.

Nice breakdown, most ppl don't understand how hard it is to make $ off these events.

Boxing is screwed up, of all 3 cards last night, the fight with the least amount of viewers was the only profitable event. The golden boy card.

                  This business is so ******ed.

His style isn't the most pleasing but he has made some bonehead business decisions.

He had the chance to fight Lucian Bute in what would have been an absolutely massive fight at the time and he turned it down over some bull**** principle about how Bute needed to "prove himself".

Froch took the opportunity and became the cash cow of the division whilst Ward contemplated retirement.
