WBC cannot sanction the Cotto - Canelo fight without GGG's approval. No point in any further discussion on that matter.

do you have a link corroborating that? i mean, i'd like to believe it, but sanctioning bodies are known to treat their own rulebooks with a certain flexibility. they are no less villainous than the various other administrators and bureauc**** that unfortunately infest this sport

When Cotto is stripped or vacates, Golovkin is automatically promoted to champion due to his holding the interim title. No fight against any other boxer required.

There is not one sanctioning body that will side with Haymon at this point in time. First of all, WBA is part of the lawsuit filed against him so there will be no cooperation there. Second thing is that they know that Haymon has no need of their titles and does not even allow them to be presented during his broadcasts. Third is that PBC are only waiting for the proper time to introduce their own titles into the mix, may well have done so already if not for the lawsuit, and will have no need of any alphabet title for his stable of fighters.

that may be the long-term goal but i don't think it will be implemented during this first trial year. wilder's wbc title is being used as a major selling point in pbc promotions and even after haymon convinced quillin to drop his belt, he went and made a big bid to regain it

i can't really be bothered to arse about with vpoints or otherwise i'd bet you that golovkin's remaining fights in 2015 will not be against both lemieux and lee, and in fact he'll be lucky to get one of them

If they really protect Lemiuex from GGG I'll be mad disappointed. Everybody wants to shut GGG out or the middleweight scene and pray he moves up. It's getting ******. I can't remember the last time everybody in the divison was so scared of someone.

They are really hoping he starts getting old overnight the more they stall and stall.

Well not all of them. Fighters like Tureano and Monroe will take a good pay check (for them) and go in knowing they are underdogs. But all the bigger names are figuring out how and when the can earn more or roughly the same amount of money by avoiding Golovkin.

Golovkin needs to find a way to open HBO's purse strings but he can only do that with a big(ger) scalp. Catch 22 situation.

Meanwhile GGG's biggest paydays are with Canelo and Cotto followed by Froch and Chavez - not Ward. So naturally he is hanging around at middleweight to see if the Canelo and Cotto fights can happen even if the odds are stacked against it. He has tried to negotiate fights with Chavez and Froch with no success. At the current time there is far less money to be made fighting the likes of Dirrell, DeGale, Groves and Abraham (and more risk) so I think we will see Golovkin continue to hang around at middleweight trying to unify titles with little success unfortunately.

Not only is Lemieux much more easily makeable since he's with GBP, Lemieux brings a MW title + big local draw + guaranteed fireworks. Fight would probably be on Lemieux home turf

Let it go man. No one cares about Lara except 12 people on NSB. Obviously a unification bout against Lemieux is far better than fighting a guy at 154 who can't even fight on HBO.

Excuses for what? I'm not a Lemieux fan. As I said, this was his first win over a legitimate contender. You can always learn a few things and improve after a few more fights at this level.
