They fight should still happen, but Goldenboy is trying to build up its stable, if they can make money having the lemming fight bums in canada, thats what they are going to do.
They already lost half their fighter stable to Haymon, and have nobody that earns outside of Canelo at the moment, so I doubt they feel Lemieux to anyone. They will protect him, and suck on the canadian money as long as they can.

Suilaiman has already stated on multiple occasions, in fact every time he discusses the situation, that both Cotto and Canelo must sign an agreement that the winner fights GGG before GGG will step aside. He has made it very clear that without Golovkin signing off on the fight, it will not be sanctioned for the title. Loeffler has stated on numerous occasions, every time he is asked actually, that GGG will force Cotto to be stripped of the title if no agreement is reached.
I do not know what doubting fans need more than the president of the WBC and Loeffler stating the same things about the same situation. Cotto has three choices... fight Golovkin... sign the agreement and come to a step aside agreement with Golovkin... vacate of be stripped of the title.
There is no possible way that WBC can simply bypass Golovkin and sanction the fight. GGG will just go to court for an injunction and stop the fight from happening. That is something that neither Cotto or Canelo or WBC or HBO want to see happen. Especially as Cotto claims not to be a middleweight and Canelo claims the same. They would become the laughing stocks of the sports world. Much better for them to fight for the WBC 154 title that Floyd will vacate two months before they have their fight.

Here's what will happen.
1. Loeffler will come out and say they tried to make the fight with Lemieux but GBP said no.
2. Golovkin fans everywhere will wank themselves into a frenzy over another fighter being "scared" of him
3. Golovkin will fight some hobo and KO him. Because "no one else would fight".
4. Loeffler will come out afterwards and namedrop everyone including Lara and Ward yet make no attempts to make those fights happen.
Rinse and repeat.

I'm much rather see Golovkin in there with an experienced world class fighter like Lara than picking on some kid who just won a vacant title.
Plus we all know GBP aren't going to ruin Lemieux's newly acquired Dish-ability by throwing him straight in with Golovkin.

Why? At least Lemieux has a punchers chance since he can ****, Lara has no chance at all he's too small and has no power. Lemieux can land big shots on Golovkin and at the very least keep him honest, Lara can't.
That would be on GB but it would be foolish not to try to make the fight. If Lemieux turns it down so be it. Give Lara a call if there are no better options. Lemieux is clearly a better opponent at this point in time. Unification bouts usually are.

Originally posted by SteveM View PostWell Barcham, I hope you are right on this but the current WBC President is the son of the WBC President at the time of the Rocchigiani fiasco. He is also the same guy who said that Cotto could fight one voluntary and then would have to fight GGG. So now we are up to 2 voluntaries if Cotto next fights Canelo. Is it totally outside the realms of possibility that Sulaiman could yet allow Cotto or Canelo another voluntary?
Originally posted by daggum View Postthey have to strip him according to the rules. if they don't ggg can take them to court just like roccigiani did when the wbc said he was next for the title but then gave the title to roy jones. he sued and the wbc knew they were in the wrong and settled for millions.
They will be proved wrong by the end of the year.
