He's the champ, "Número uno", the best... or whatever you want to call it. I think the problem here is the term. It was used for the winner or the best, now is just a generic term for anyone that has a belt, which there are plenty right now.

For me, the champion has to be fighting the best. Not resting and saying: but first let me fight some tomato can and a taxi driver.

This is the fight that needs to happen ASAP. If all these other dudes are scared to step in the ring with GGG, let Lemieux get a shot. One thing I know for sure is that both of these guys have one punch KO power in either hand. If anyone has the power to hurt GGG seriously at MW, Lemieux has it.

Uh,shouldn't it be "let's see if lemieux is willing to fight ggg",not the other way around?

Really funny to see Cotto supporters talking down on GGG for not fighting top guys when Cotto is the one running for his life to avoid GGG.

Love to see this fight but it's not happening. Canelo is short on opposition.

            In order:
            1/ Canelo-Cotto. / Meanwhile Lemieux fights a defense.
2/ Canelo, if he beats Cotto, fights a defense / Lemieux fights his mandatory
3/ Canelo and lemieux fight to unify IBF and WBC.

Meanwhile GGG is kept frozen out unless he gets it on with Lee/Saunders winner - and that aint happening either if Saunders wins as he will rematch Eubank jr. Lee will be hanging on to see if he can get a Canelo or Cotto fight.

Golovkin should fight Lara to shut him up, then chase boxers who have no. 1 spots in IBF and WBO just as he targeted Rubio to get WBC mandatory. Eventually, and it might take a while, either the belts will get droppped or he'll get the fights. Or the organizations will get heavily criticized. At least the sanctioning fees for the WBO an IBF don't stack up so much as they do for the WBC.
Problem with all this is by that time GGG will be 35 yrs old.

"I'm not a real middleweight...GGG...ummm Miguel Cotto wants to fight El Canelo" -The lineal Middleweight champion of the world, Miguel Cotto

Don't worry bro we didn't forget that fast.....so yeah he'll keep fighting til your boy actually loses or mans up and fights his mandatory.

I would like to see this next, why not make it happen HBO. Canelo vs Cotto happens later this year Froch doesn't know if he will retire or not, Ward might fight Kovalev if were lucky at 175. So I'm cool with GGG fighting Lemieux next, or maybe Ward vs GGG happens at 168.

A loss to gg would not end the gravy train. I suspect that lemiux would put up one of the best fights that anyone has given ggg in a long time, which would raise his stock and profile, even if its a close decision loss. Plus lemiux is a huge star in Canada just like jean Pascal who still got huge paydays even after his two beat downs at the hands of Bernard hopkins

There are many unproven world champions right now. Lemieux is one of them.

Yea this fight isn't happening next. Lemiux is a Canelo option above all else.
