Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Promoter Will Call Golden Boy For Lemieux

David Lemieux captured the vacant IBF middleweight title on Saturday night in Montreal in emphatic fashion by defeating the game Hassan N'Dam in what was an entertaining affair that saw Lemieux score four knockdowns over the course of the night. Lemieux won by the scores of 114-110 and 115-109 (twice).

A very interested observer was Gennady Golovkin, who currently holds the WBA, IBO and WBC-interim belt, and is looking for a significant fight as it looks like Miguel Cotto - who holds the full WBC belt - will be facing Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in the fall.

sweet hope this fight happens. and im not talking a year from now there is absolutely no good reason this fight cant happen next. obviously ggg is the easy favorite id say -350 at least better offensively and defensively but at the end of the day its still got the makings of a incredibly entertaining fight and lemieux has a chance i mean the guy throws ****ing bombs. there styles offensively are actually pretty similar obviously lemiuex is way more raw but they actually remind me of eachother the way they chase their opponents around. i just hope oscar doesnt pull no bs cause he knows lemeiux is about to be a star and he knows he could put him in a few more times and really grow him where if he puts him in with ggg it ends the gravy train before it even gets started. well see if oscar puts his money where his mouth is on these entertaining fights

Too soon. Lemieux has just won a title and beaten his first top 10 middleweight contender and you guys already want to put him in the ring against Golovkin. He needs a few more fights in my opinion.

Yeah, he's at his peak now. Wait too long and he'll be headed down the other side of it, with or without GGG's help.

Excuses for what? I'm not a Lemieux fan. As I said, this was his first win over a legitimate contender. You can always learn a few things and improve after a few more fights at this level.

Please make this fight. Other then Cotto or Canelo this is the next best fight for GGG. And as far as styles they match perfect. Two biggest punchers at middleweight. It will be pure action for as long as it goes. GGG would be favored but I would not be shocked if Lemieux drops him, kid has dynamite in his gloves.
