The belt is up in the air, Loma and Walters can still fight for it, the manager is setting himself up to have egg on his face.

But still this statement is a big letdown. In this era belt hunting is not synonymous with fighting the best. It's entirely possible to go belt hunting and avoid any real competition or threats. I don't think Loma is meeting the hype and high expectations everyone has of him. If he's a wunderkind, the next Jesus of boxing like HBO and Top Rank shill, he should be able to handle a guy that hydrates a few divisions.

I'm disappointed with Loma... This it the BEST fight to be made for him... He fought at larger weight classes before, so what is the big deal... meet in the middle...

Fans don't care about belts, they care about the best fighting the best...

I have a hard time believing that a two time olympic gold champion is afraid of Walters, but this smells like a duck... Maybe it's just Arum putting this big fight on ice right now, who knows...

But here we go again...yet another great fight that's readily available, gets put on the backburner for an indefinite period of time... Gotta love boxing...

Businesswise I think if Lomachenko doesn't wanna fight Walters now he should first unify the belts then move up and fight Walters later at 130, but from what this guy said in this interview it looks like they have no interest in fighting Walters at any weight cuz he'll always be bigger than Lomachenko.

Just imagine Floyd saying I'm not gonna fight Dela Hoya or Canelo cuz they're bigger than me, I bet u not Lomachenko will get away with this like it never happened, just like Kovalev got away with his racist pic, everything was alright, cuz it was all white.
Can Walters even make the weight? The fight was going to happen if Walters was not so unprofessional and actually made the weight.
Stop trying to make it into a race thing, because there is people crucifying Lomachenko.
So Loma has to move up because fat ass Walters can't make weight anymore, GTFO.

Rightfully so, no unification so what is there to gain apart from fan appeal to fight a guy who cant make weight and weighs 145 on fight night. If it happens Loma will still UD him.

I understand that but what does this have to do with my post? They are all the new brand/flavor of the month in boxing.

If the roles were reversed, Walters would be getting bashed left to right.

Also, why is it ok to ask Rigo to come up to 126 but people arent telling Loma to do a catchweight for Walters of 128 or so? No belt but like I said, its the best money fight out there for both guys.

EDIT: By people I mean his fans.

The blueprint was already laid out to beat Loma, You have to be bigger than him. Iam of the belief that Walters beats Loma simply because hes too big

The way Broner was bigger than every lightweight, and Mayweather was just too big for Pacquiao.

Ofcourse GGG, Loma an Kovalev are the darlings for most on here and are held to different standards, and completely ignored that they all have their ducks this year, GGG really doesnt want Ward, Kovalev's team ducked Stevenson and now this...

Dont kid yourselves.. Walters was coming off a layoff and the flu, and just missed weight by 1 pound, he can still make 126.

Not having the belt is less important to me than his size. He might not be able to make featherweight, and either way you can count on him being 140+ on fight night. I say even super featherweight is probably too light for Walters now, might just need to move up to lightweight. No point in draining yourself so much.

Loma you rehydrate to 135 and Walters 145 . I must say it is not fair but for only 10 pounds ???
Plain duck ,,,, fight rigo then at 122 .

Hit and not be hit .
Where is the proof of Nonito coming in at 143? People always say that Nonito was 140+ without any proof, because they didn't show their fight night weights. The highest Nonito has been was in the low 130's. Just because he's tall doesn't mean he was that big. When he fought at 118, he came in at mid to high 120's.

I think he can make weight, but if he doesn't, it's a complete waste of a year for Lomachenko. After Salido, they won't fight another overweight opponent.
