      Jlc could make the hall

      Margo not so much

Throwing and missing don't mean much....you fighting top 5 atg in defense n counterpunching

Margo would have got whitewashed n picked apart....this is 06-09 quick prime Floyd not the pot shorter at 39
Reading your post, maybe you need to be refreshed with what happened but it was Margarito that beat up Cotto.

Margarito had the size, stamina and work rate that gave Cotto lots of trouble and even though Cotto tried his best, he just couldn't stop the onslaught coming from Margarito. I would say that both left a little in the ring that night and it was a great fight.

You can think what you want but Floyd wanted no part of Margarito. He had a choice to fight him but selected to fight no name, who cares Baldomir.

        SIG worthy post.

Floyd fans will only admit to this if they are trying to defend their hero Floyd. Coming from a Floyd fan, this post is as rare as being able to spot an Albino Alligator.

It's wh maidana gave floyd problems the first fight l, plus a height advantage.

            Still wouldn't pick against floyd

But it wouldve been better than freaking Ortiz or Guerrero

Styles makes fights remember. Floyd handled Pacquiao, Cotto, Canelo, ODH relatively easy but Maidana had success in the first fight. Sometimes its better to be a B/C fighter with a certain style than an A fighter with a style that favors Floyd. Anyway Margaritos come forward, pressuring style, activity and iron clad chin would hypothetically make it interesting. I think Floyd wins but if someone had the "style", not saying ability, but the style to make things interesting it would be Margarito.

Well back in the day, although I didn't know if he'd win there were some aspects to him that gave him a chance.

He was obviously a very big guy, so size was one, plus he seemed basically invulnerable to punches, so keeping him off wasn't an option, the constant pressure, iron chin, size and power made him seem pretty fearsome, he was always slow however so Floyd had a good chance to just move around and outbox him.

We will never really know how much of his power was genuine, but the dude certainly had insane punch resistance for most of his career and never took a backward step, most opponents of guys like Floyd get discouraged around the 5th round and just go through the motions, you knew with Margarito he'd be trying to kill Floyd until the final bell, and although he'd be eating plenty of leather, he wouldn't give a ****.

If you saw how Maidana, a smaller fighter with a similar attitude gave floyd problems in the first fight, you see how a prime Marg would be similar.

                that made him dangerous.

Honestly I like Mayweather but I'm gonna keep it real... In a 12 round fight Floyd would receive a lot of damage against a prime Margarito, regardless of the plaster wraps. There is literally nothing Floyd could throw that would hurt or slow down Antonio. Floyd would have to bank on running and holding. Very wise business decision to pass on that fight.

Wow!!! You finally ventured out of the Official Floyd/#48 thread.....only to carry on talking about Floyd again.

You're obsessed. More than any fanboy I've seen.

Although Margarito was past prime in Cotto II, Cotto did make some tactical adjustments in the fight. The adjustments he made are things that Floyds does very well. Pivoting round rather than just moving laterally along the ropes, properly transitioning offence and defence and then clinching if needed.
I mean, although speed isn't everything as we've learned time and time again, one still needs a certain degree of speed to tangle with Mayweather and Margarito simply does not have that. Margarito's size, durability, conditioning and willingness to walk through everything only means that Mayweather isn't gonna look too good winning but nonetheless it'll still be one sided.
