You can bet that Cotto will either vacate his belt or be stripped of it rather than fight GGG. Cotto is the mandatory next fight for GGG. Cotto wants to fight Canelo next for more money and it will be more money but the manly thing to do is honor your word and fight GGG first then Canelo.
But Cotto has already went back on his word before. Back in October GGG made the fight with Rubio to be the mandatory for the opportunity that Cotto got from the WBC to fight Martinez. When Cotto made that deal with the WBC he understood that *after one optional fight, he then had to fight the winner of Rubio/Golovkin sometime this year. Cotto made that deal with the WBC in order to get the opportunity against Martinez. Or else Martinez would have probably fought somebody else or fought Golovkin. *Now that Cotto has to live up to that arrangement he is not being honorable. He is backing out because he is being a diva. He fights Geale and doesn’t fight the winner of Golovkin/Rubio. So what does that say about Cotto’s word.

You make good points but your anger is misplaced. IMO you should be mad at the WBC, who will continue to make GGG wait so long as Cotto pays the sanctioning fee to fight Floyd or canelo since 3% of those fights is bigger than 3% of a GGG fight.

I don't feel bad for GGG either. He has used money/revenue as an excuse for not making certain fights fans are asking for. you can't get mad if fighters that earn more than him treat him the same way.

How long have you been off GGG? You have yet to contact anyone either. I'm really getting sick of GGG calling out nothing but smaller fighters. Lara 154. Cotto is at least in the same division but the smallest MW ever. Canelo, is a JMW apparently and Floyd is a WW.

Just one point-Herschman has said HBO will put on Haymon fighters if "the price is right". I think this is a defacto ban because HBO will NEVER agree to the purses Haymon fighters get.

Lara is a interesting anomaly. He doesn't command such a big purse that HBO can't use "the price is right" argument. He isn't signed to SHowtime. If HBO doesn't approve him it seems solely because he would make for a difficult fight for GGG.

If GGG can't get the fight he wants that doesn't mean his fans should justify his choices in opposition.

All that may be true and yet... GGG is still not trying to make any fights and sitting around waiting.

If Lara truly wants the fight, he'll do what's necessary inside and outside of the ring to give himself the best chance: stay active and relevant, destroy overmatched opposition, move up to MW, show up to GGG's press conferences, etc. Trash-talking will not be enough to land this match-up, especially with HBO involved.

Lara might not really want to fight Golovkin but all LaFleur has to do is talk to HBO and then send an offer to his team. Although not a middleweight Lara would be the best fighter - maybe even the best win - on Golovkin's resume.

GGG fights on HBO. Lara needs to be able to fight on HBO or the fight can't happen.
