Just because Golovkin is mandatory to the WBC with the lineal championship on the line and isn't moving up right this second doesn't mean he won't later. That's what people tend to conveniently leave out - why would Golovkin go anywhere when he's waiting for his mandatory shot? It's not like Ward offered to fight Golovkin anytime this year.

You mean when Ward was inactive involved with a lawsuit. Let's not pretend that Ward was fighting anybody during that period. The fact of the matter is Golovkin doesn't and has never wanted the fight. The 164 catchweight says it all.

The offer from HBO was in the Summer of 2013 after GGG beat Macklin. Andre Ward himself was commentating on this fight for HBO. You know exactly why Ward wasn't entertaining a fight with GGG back then when he saw what GGG did to Macklin.

Ward never chose a tough fight when he was not contractually forced to (As in the Super 6 and now with HBO who said, either sign for Kovalev or keep fighting on BET)

Ward made excuses and didn't want to face GGG when the offer was on the table, at 168 in Oakland and went on to later face Edwin Rodriguez!
