Has there been another prospect as popular and talked about as Verdejo is?

he barely gets talked about on this forum

I did not see much Threads about him until this week and more so now after this recent fight. Brilliant Promotion by Arum though! Nobody create new stars like Bob Arum!

Hmm, maybe I was just brainwashed by all of the Puerto Ricans on this forum bringing up his name. I could have sworn I've seen all sorts of people rocking gifs and sigs of his. They were talking about him non-stop.

Canelo when he was a prospect had better ratings than the mexican soccer team. Oscar was huge coming out of the olympics. There have been others

US Olympians in the past got bigtime mainstream push including Leonard, Foreman, and De la Hoya.

The guy has some fast hard punches and good skills but his opponent wasn't very good. If he can take a good punch he should go far.

Leonard and Delahoya were more popular.

True. Evander Holyfield made his debut on prime time television. Verdejo is not even close to being the most popular. I am very impressed with his skills though.

Why are you getting so defensive? I'll admit, I'm very reluctant to follow any "prospects", but Verdejo happened to be one of them. I usually don't start to follow fighters' careers till they are already established in the sport.
