Hope he gets some good fights because i think he can more than hold his own against some of the top guys in the division in a fair fight.
yea i agree man marriaga did really good but the oversize advantage was the evidence in his win tonight if he disciplined himself like marriaga did he would of had trouble tonight marriaga showed he belongs with the best at that weight walters verdejo can't wait another yr or so cause walter too big for that weight already shame would of loved to see loma vs walters

Don't be fooled, he was taking it easy on Marriaga most of the night. When he deemed fit, he made the skill disparity known.

He gave up his belt for a reason right? Verdejo is about to catch an axe to the face.

Walters does seem to improve each time out. He had a solid, complete performance tonight. He will either stick around 126 for one more fight or move up. But the best fights are at 126. He, Lom, Selby, Cuellar, Mares, Velez would make for some really nice matchups. But at 130 there is Vargas, Martinez, Fortuna, Vasquez so its not a bad division either.

That sounds an awful lot like Golovkin's "I let Monroe hit me to make the fight exciting!" excuse.

Walters did well, but no need to pretend he wasn't eating a lot of overhand rights.

There were at least two times when he got hit flush and all of a sudden, tagged Miariaga with a nice combination that rocked him and he did it on command. He stepped up the tempo when he felt it was necessary and could have hurt dude had he NEEDED to.

Nobody gets hit on the face on purpose!

He dominated guy, getting hit or not. Had it come down to a matter of getting hit or not, we may have gotten a different fight. As it stands, the fight did not even get to the point where the analysis required a detailed observation regarding the punches landed.

                    Size mismatch

What looked to be a potential fight of the year turned out to be a gross size mismatch. It looked like a human teenager fighting an adult neanderthal. Hats off to Marriaga for hanging in there against a monster.
