More I think about it, higher Im evaluating Sergios career. The factors i mentioned before, plus his blinding speed, great movement, stamina, resilience, not a bad chin...Sergio would give some of histories top MWs a hell of a fight. Plus despite not the highest KO% if Sergio caught you moving in, he could hurt you, case in point the Williams KO, one of my favourite one punch KOs...and Williams had a good chin.

Martinez had a late start in boxing, but he made the most of it. Great champion and a class act.

The way he lost his last fight was heartbreaking. Martinez was a guy who knew he had to make the most with the time he had left in his career and was desperate for a big fight.

He was injured, and taken advantage of by an opponent who would have never fought him if he was close to being 100% healthy.

I'll forget him shocking the world and battering Pavlik,
Legend. You will be missed but it's the right time

Logged in just to express my thoughts on this. Good person and very good fighter boxing needs more characters like Sergio Martinez.

Had a great career and accomplished a lot in a short span, and he is retiring smartly and at the perfect time. Good Game Champ, thank you for all of your contributions.

I think this was the right move.

Martinez was a hell of a fighter, and a guy who unfortunately had to wait too long for his opportunity. Once he got it, though, he really made the most of it. Best of luck to him going forward.

Late start and the guy was avoided at 154. He still did damn good for himself despite it all.
