Fighting Cotto is career suicide. First Margarito and now Sergio... GGG and Canelo want that retirement check early.

Damn. Bittersweet news to read. Sergio is one of my favorite boxers for sure. I still remember seeing him beaming and flexing with confidence for his weigh-in against Pavlik. Thanks for the great fights, champ. You're admirable inside and outside the ring.

It was great, wish he would have hit the scene a lot sooner though.

Come on man, though you were a decent poster, Sergio was clearly ruined by
Chavez and Margarito was ruined by the eye injury which was produced in the Pacquiao fight. I will give you Canelo(not in the sense that you are right but I think he can be beaten by Cotto) but GGG?

Sergio was a poser... He looked great against bums like Chavez Jr., rehab Pavliks and let's not forget, got blasted out by a pre-plater Margarito with great knees. Cotto would have boxed the shyt out of ANY version of Sergio. That hands low shyt style of Sergio's worked on Journeymen...

            "But Sergio's knee doe..."

Fck is this shyt? WHERE is the greatness?

            Julio Cesar Chavez Jr 46-0-1
            Matthew Macklin 28-3-0
            Darren Barker 23-0-0
            Serhiy Dzinziruk 37-0-0
            Paul Williams 39-1-0
            Kelly Pavlik 36-1-0
            Kermit Cintron 30-2-0

have respect bro. This win got Cotto fans thinking he was rejuvenated. a new fighter. the way you talk about him, it seems like we should discredit cottos win over this "poser" coming off surgeries and a long layoff before fighting michellita cotto

Nope. I am saying Sergio was a journeyman killa. He fought a staph infected/rehab lovin pavlik...A bum Chavez Jr. who claimed to have trained for 5 days...

Perspective. Sergio looked great against BUMS.

Cotto would have picked Sergio apart at ANY point in Sergio's "career."

Chavez (Bum trained for a week..)
                Murray (lost)
Pavlik (Coming off staph infection and various rehab stints)
                Cintron (broken...)
                Williams... (haymaker glory)

                Sergio was a POSER...

Those are peasant excuses used to discredit Cotto's wins. Nothing more.

Margarito was "ruined" when he was no longer allowed to use his magic wraps.

Yet, this fight had you come outta your shell. Cotto was one of my favorites before his diva act. No lie.

But this Sergio might be Cottos best win. Yet, you're tearing him down like he's a nobody. I guess you can say Mosley was cottos best win, although people dispute the decision, but idk.

Just think twice before ripping a fighter apart when your current favorite fighter has him as his career best win, or at least top 3

                      Late, but the correct decision.

He should have retired after the Murray fight when it was clear that his knees were gone and he had nothing left.

He took another fight for a cash-out, which I can't blame him for, but he has no business fighting at that point. He wasn't allowed to spar dur to knee problems yet he was cleared to fight? Nah.
