Ward, who's been out of the ring since November 2013, is back in the ring on June 20th against Paul Smith at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. The fight will headline Roc Nation Sports' first televised event on BET.

During Ward's period of inactivity, his name was consistently linked to several potential fights. One of those potential fights would come against WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs).

Are you really ****** enough to believe Arum would lose Chavez over a GGG fight in which he has to split revenue?

All this and you still werent able to answer a simple either or question. Try again.
Chavez Jr took less money to go get knocked out by Fonfara, d1ckhead.
Potential $17 mil dollars for 2 fights was not enough money for Chavez Jr because he knew he'd get his ass kicked.
Took less money with Haymon and still got his ass kicked lol
      "MUH BIZNEZZ MAN!"
TopRank sent K2 a contract, GGG signed it and Chavez Jr ****ed around for months before signing with Run-N-Hide promotions.
Why did you pretend like you didn't know that, dip****?
GGG will go up to 168 and travel to UK to fight Froch.
      Those fights were possible.
Ward hasn't been fighting ANYONE the last 19 months and now he needs tune ups.
What the **** don't you understand about that?

        Dumbass
He already fought Geale, his best win and a former JWW did in the same amount of time. Did you even know he fought Geale...?

Kirkland was a joke of a fight for Canelo, you got all that from me posting about GGG's career? You fit the exact person I was talking about. **** on one Cotto win and that justifies GGG's career somehow?

So on one hand, you have a guy fighting bums in hopes of getting a lottery ticket against Canelo and Cotto. Turning their nose up at every damn challenger that doesn't headline ppvs.

On the other hand, you have a guy that hasn't fought in 2 years and threw a temper tantrum because he couldn't get the Chavez Jr fight.

I like both fighters but **** them both until they are in a fight that intrigues me. But as usual fanboys will take sides, and we'll have 25 pages of flaming and "Ward is boring doe" and "GGG is a hype job doe".
            Congratulations.

            You win NSB.

            Now what?

            • From the Andre Ward press conference going on right now. Maybe RN does make Golovkin an offer at the end of this year!

              • GGG - Ward in 2015 would not be a PPV. I cannot think of anyone Ward could fight in 2015 who would be PPV unless he plans to drop way down to fight Mayweather in Sept and there is ZERO chance of that happening. Ward has to worry about getting back on regular HBO before thinking about a PPV fight.

RN has deep pockets where they could front the money to cover the fighter's guarantees, in addition promote the hell out of the fight. They could then take the risk of running it on ppv. Looking at what some small scale ppvs do like Bradley/Marquez, Alvarez/Lara, Martinez/Cotto, additionally what some UFC ppvs do - 300k buys is realistic.

At $60 a pop w/ 300k buys, cable company taking their standard 50%, your looking at a $9mill dollar purse for the fighters - $5mill to GGG, $4mill to Ward - min guarantees. That's not counting gate and foreign revs.

agreed...no one outside of hardcore boxing circles know who Andre Ward is. Well, maybe except my family...which is a direct result of him being black and me beating them across the head with "this guy commentating on this HBO fight is the best boxer in the world not named Floyd Mayweather..and oh yea he's the last american boxer to win olympic gold"

what about the expenses incurred in promoting the fight? With the math you just provided, seems like RN would be taking a loss on this fight. which is the point...it's not profitable enough for the concerned parties to stage this fight
