I imagine Floyd will announce his decision before the end of the month...
If Floyd doesn't fight Lara.... I would absolutely love Cotto-Lara... THAT, imo, is one of the best fights to be made right now... Both solid 154lbers... Cotto has that new power and aggression and can move better than Canelo (so won't necessarily be a perpetual victim to Lara's distance control like Canelo was)... Besides GGG and Canelo, by far the best fight for Cotto...Although I don't see it ever happening...
Funny thing is, if Lara was American and not Cuban, everyone would be all over his ****...
The Cuban fighters just have a hard time breaking amateur habits. They are trained to outpoint and not inflict damage. They don't develop inside games, body punching goes unnoticed in the amateur points system and they are used to building up leads and coasting.
People will probably reply "isn't that what Floyd does" and the answer is no. He commits to the body which is why you see opponents fading late, he's the most versatile fighter in the sport and look at his prime years, not this old man version. He can beat you so many ways.

How it makes me laugh how fans push mismatches on us but don't try force legitimate 50/50 fights and make excuses about small fanbases and all that rubbish. All of a sudden they care about what fighters make.
Idc if Lara is a pretty basic southpaw you try dealing with a fleet-footed, defensive, southpaw counterpuncher with a world class jab, impeccable timing and accuracy. I don't care if your name is Floyd Mayweather Jr nobody, NOBODY born from their mother is having an easy time with Lara.
Yes he is basic, so is Floyd these days.
He beat Canelo, he beat Paul Williams from pillar to post, he beat Vanes, he has many other good wins. He has a ridiculous resume in so few fights. He is clearly #1 at 154 and clearly 20 times the boxer that Khan and Brook and Danny Garcia are combined.
Lara is the toughest fight out there, no two ways about it and as a boxing fan I want to see the 'TBE' vs the next best out there.
Lara has a lot going for him in this fight. His amateur pedigree being the biggest, he fought countless potshotters and masterboxers, guys with similar styles to Floyd and he beat them at the highest level.
Make this fight happen.
Lara isn't that good, and he lost to Canelo, period. There was no robbery there, that was an extremely close fight that could have gone either way, he drew to Molina ffs.
He's one dimensional and does the same thing over and over again, doesn't have a right hand, his defence is turd, his chin is questionable, he has no inside game whatsoever, he's not a good counter puncher.
Mayweather would walk him down and beat him easily.
