You can say that Beterbiev dealt with Johnson better than Alvarez did. Beterbiev needs a little more pro experience, particularly more rounds, but he will not improve too much from what he is right now. I personally think he needs perhaps one more fringe contender and then a genuine contender (Perhaps Alvarez or Fonfara) before fighting Stevenson or Kovalev for a title.

I don't think it's too early to compare Beterbiev to Kovalev. They both are top products of the same "Russian school"... And I don't know if Beterbiev even wanted to display everything he knows... But he still needs one or two good fights to go into the championship rounds...Comment

This was a nasty beating. Johnson was game, and really tough, but that got hard to watch by the end.Comment

That fight will never happen though... Roc Nation vs Haymon beef, HBO vs Haymon beef... So it's less likely that fight will happen.
Beterbiev vs Eleider/Stevenson/Fonfara and Ward vs GGG/Kova/DeGale are more likely.Comment

Pascal still has the same trainer as Beterbiev as far as I know, unless he's changed out since the Kovalev beating. If that's the case then they're probably still sparring, although you have to wonder how often Pascal trains since he barely fights once a year. Maybe he spars to stay in some kind of shape.Comment

I need to see him against a little better opposition to say that for sure but you say something.

Anyway, I was only addressing their actual fighting styles...Comment

Inside work? Maybe he is less polished than Golo or Kova but his inside game imo shits all over GGG's and Kovalev's. Beterbiev is rugged on the inside and doesn't feel himself uncomfortable when he has to fight there. Golovkin has no inside game and Kovalev also feels very uncomfortable on the inside.
And I don't know why but I somehow like the style of this guy better than Kovalev's or GGG's, it's similar to their but it's somehow still different and this is why I like it better. Maybe because he seems to be more well rounded and not only can gain momentum when his opponent is in the corner or against the ropes. On this fight Beterbiev showed some nice counter fighting game.Comment

When did I say he didn't have inside work? I said he could polish it even more, he could be even scarier on the inside. There was times where he let Johnson off the hook, he possibly did it to let him survive. But I'm an actual fan of this guy, I want to see him improve. I exaggerate a lot of my points, but that's because I want to see my favorite boxers be successful. If he ever fought Ward, he'll have to beat the crap out of Andre anytime they are in the inside. I'm not going by who he fought last night, I'm thinking on how he could improve so when he fights better fighters he can be the best he could possibly be, for lack of better words. So yeah I'm criticizing him, but that's because I actually want him to keep improving. I've been a fan of this guy since like 06 (maybe 07).
Ward isn't just about inside fighting though... This is why he is as successful as he is. He ca fight comfortably on back foot, front foot, countering, inside, pocket, outside, etc... everywhere. But with a strong inside game he has more chance to beat Ward than Kovalev or GGG, I agree on that.Comment
