His jab is like a straight left. Sheesh he has immense power in both hands. With more rounds he will be more than formidable for any opponent.

So, take it for what you want. Also, that was more than six full years ago as well, and now we need to se them fight as pros. Also, remember that Alexander Johnson was ranked 86th by BoxRec.com coming into tonight's fight.
But also remember Johnson wasn't the original opponent. I can't remember who, but they pulled out and Johnson was the replacement.

Not sure what effort level that was guessing he wasn't all too serious about pushing on the gas pedal though.
He's definitely hittable, but so is Kov. Someone would get laid out in that fight!

Just rewatched, he looked better on second watch but obviously has more work ahead of him. I want more!! But we won't see him until October then December. I would love to see him fight Fonfara, that would be a solid test.

Didn't know Beterbiev is ambidextrous, explains why he's a natural hooker. His repertoire of punches consist of short hooks and uppercuts, all with KO power, he's an insanely dangerous fighter because they're so easy to land and because they come at weird angles, they're hard to block.

He also works the body extremely well, cutting off the ring and ripping you with fluid combo punching. He just may be the best body puncher in the division.

Johnson went 7, but not w/out taking a beating. Many journeymen are much tougher than actual world class competition bc world class competition doesn't get hit as much due to their skills, their punch resistance usually isn't as good.

I saw plenty of shots that would've put guys like Kovalev and Stevenson to sleep. Especially with the hooks Kova was eating from a guy like Pascal on both the head and body, if that's BB, night night.

His defense is definitely flawed though, that is his weakness, really flat footed, backs up too much, doesn't really have a jab. Just 9 fights in, he's learning on the job, he'll continue to progress, he even took his foot off the gas to try to get some rounds in this fight.

I thought he looked good of course he has his critics because he is with PBC so some people are just nitpicking. If this fight was on HBO the hype would be the same as GGG and Kovalev
My only criticism is too much Power Punches and nothing in between. Just need to Pop that Jab more consistently. But Cutting the Ring Off and also not allowing his opponent to clinch and hold.

Also liked the versatility of showing he can fight off of his back foot and catch and shoot. Also showed good footwork. Still a long way to go so no need to start hyping up like some of these other fighters. Let him earn it! Would love to see him vs Fonfara! Send him into Germany and go get Braehmer WBA Belt which is being held Hostage
