    Kovalev later, Stevenson first ...

Stevenson and Beterbiev are both Haymon Fighters.... That gets done much easier than Kovalev at this point.

That's if Haymon reads the tea leaves, with respect to Adonis Stevenson career, at his age now. The future $$$ wil be with Beterbiev, a fews years from now.

So, take it for what you want. Also, that was more than six full years ago as well, and now we need to se them fight as pros. Also, remember that Alexander Johnson was ranked 86th by BoxRec.com coming into tonight's fight.

Beterbiev had ONE official amateur win over Kovalev, who says he was robbed by Chechen judges.

Beterbiev also claims he beat Kovalev in sparring once, but sparring rumors should be taken with a grain of salt.

Artur still has a lot of work to do. He has to learn how to throw a jab lol. He has to master the art of coming forward (working with GGG and Abel wouldn't hurt), sometimes he goes backwards (retreats) for apparently no reason and tries to be slick; that's obviously not him, he has to be a pressure fighter. There is times where he can go without throwing a punch, he has to stop doing that. Not saying he has to throw 100 punches a round, but he has to be a little more active. Also, there was times where he could have worked on the inside but didn't. They need to sharpen his inside work, he has short lethal punches, so why not work on his inside game, once his opponents get close to him he just should just start working.

He still has a lot to learn, hopefully they keep him active and he learns from his mistakes. I'm not convinced by his coach though.

Beterbiev doesn't need to learn anything more -- he's 30...
He only needs more rounds into the ring, which is what he's doing right now.

Johnson was a solid opponent for Beterbiev, good enough to cause some issues and tough enough not to fold at the first sign of trouble.

You hope he takes some lessons for this fight and works on that stuff in the gym, and I do think he used his time in this fight decently enough.

The lack of jab is troubling though, especially when he faces a guy that will move around on him and not allow him to get set.

If he goes rounds just to go rounds, then it's pointless. If he wants to go rounds he actually has to work in them. He has to figure out his style as a pro, he has to master the pressure style as a professional boxer. I know he has it in him, I've been watching him since before the 07 World Championships. So you think, "Oh he's going rounds that's good enough", NO he has to go in there to learn!! Not saying he has to completely change his style, but he has to adjust to the professional game. Maybe he is noticing things, that's why he sometimes let's his opponent work without him throwing anything, but it doesn't look good. That's the point of your early fights, to learn and adjust, not just go rounds without a purpose. We just have to wait and see how his future fights go and hopefully he's actually taking things out of these matches. He should try to stay active, right now that no super fight is in the horizon.
