didn't kovalev and pascal split about $6m? i'm not sure what was provided by hbo and what came from ticket sales or whatever, but i'm pretty sure kovalev ended up with ~$3.5m and pascal with ~$2.5m. for $3m apiece, i'm sure the ward fight can be made

Yeah it was 3.25/2.75 split, but it also included Canadian ppv and the live gate in Montreal was around $1.2mill (8,545 attendance). Conversely the Ward/Dawson fight had 7,611 tickets sold, 1,308 comps, for $706,469 gate.

One question is whether there's enough money on regular HBO for Kovalev/Ward. Will Ward be satisfied just taking his minimum $2mill? Will Kovalev the champion be satisfied taking just around a $1mill?

Like Ward/Golovkin, we may see another situation where these guys want to wait til it's worth more money. If they both believe this fight is worth more at the end of 2016 or in 2017, they'll probably wait.

Stop it Kovalev is the A-side while Ward was inactive, Kovalev is getting bigger and bigger after each of his fights, plus it will be Kovalev making the casual interested in this fight.

Ward is about to own the LHW division. He has speed, pop, and ring smarts well beyond anyone in the division. Stevenson is the closest thing they have to a complete fighter, Fonfara isnt bad either he has solid fundementals. Krusher and BB are just bulldozers. If they can't **** you out they are in major trouble although Bieterbev is a better "boxer" of the two. Krusher is too damn robotic and gets hit with the dumbest punches. Did you see what Pascal was landing on him?

right, i forgot to account for canadian ppv sales. i reckon hbo will do everything within their power to make this fight, though. not many other options for kovalev right now unless they can somehow come to an agreement with pbc for stevenson and beterbiev
