  • why is margarito cheating against cotto theory widely accepted? proof?

i was watching a hbo vid of max/bhop/jim discussing cotto re-emergence, max said cotto was cheated out of his prime by margarito because of plaster paris. i just dont understand how u can say this on national tv without any proof. cotto simply couldnt handle his pressure and stamina.

in relation to the plaster theory if margarito had used plaster paris against cotto then why the hell did he take his glvoes off in the ring? when people were shaking his hand wouldnt they have felt something unusual?

furthermore, cotto face doesnt show signs of plaster damage. compare his face to a real victim of plaster and u can see massive difference

so has anyone on here got any evidence that margarito used plaster paris

update. the ''crack'' in margarito wrap that cotto pointed out on hbo faceoff turns out to be piece of string lol

I don't think he used plaster for this fight either, I think his relentlessness is what broke Cotto down, but I don't blame other people for thinking this, when you cheat all your previous wins are called into question.

There is no hard evidence but you can't expect Margs to get the benefit of the doubt, especially the way the plaster was discovered and the way his punches were not that effective in the Shane fight.

      which do you believe:

      1. that was the 1st time he tried to cheat and just so happened to get caught by ****m or
      2. he cheated before and had gotten away with it

Most go with #2, hence they think he likely cheated against Cotto.

First off Skip, I don't think you can compare an immediate post fight face picture with a days later post fight picture as the swelling really settled in at that point compared to immediately after the fight with Cotto still in the ring.

I don't think ANYONE has a picture of Cotto's fight a few days later to make a true comparison. With that said, Cotto's entire head looks swollen and lumpy as if he was hit with a bat vs a glove.

Now I think the biggest su****ious fact that was brought up was that the wrap recovered out of the glove when he was caught in the locker room against Mosley, it was said to have blood on it. Why the f**k would it have blood on it if it hadn't already been used before? What fight was before Mosley? Oh right, the Cotto fight.

          It's COHESIVE.

what doesnt make sense to me is plaster paris would have caused cotto more more damage, billy collins eyes swelled up until they were completely shut and he had permanent damage blurred vision. cotto just looks like a guy who has been in a fight, the damage isnt consistent with plaster paris.

Cotto said himself after the second fight, the azteca commentators asked him about the punches, the feeling in this fight and cotto said: "his punches felt the same"
