Canelo won't fight Andrade. No way in hell lol. Would love to see it because that is exactly the fight Andrade needs to get him in the public eye. Andrade makes easy work of Canelo imo.Comment

Canelo and his team have to stop being idiots here for a second. If they want maximize their profits, they let Mayweather have his last fight in September and they fight Cotto in October or November.Comment
-
Smart move by Alvarez, Cotto won't be ready til probably November/December. Canelo takes a stay busy fight on regular HBO and continues to build his popularity after that long break between Lara and Kirkland. Gives him further leverage negotiating with Cotto, should he look good.
He could easily fight John Thompson from the boxcino tournament or even take a page from Cotto and weight drain a guy like Tureano Johnson or Heiland.Comment

Agree. It would also only give Cotto a three week rest before starting training camp. I doubt that date works for him.Comment

you're right. it's all about ego with canelo. i'm telling you, these negotiations btwn he and cotto are going to be hilarious.Comment

it's stated that they wanted to compete PPVs against Floyd. And when did Cotto drain Johnson or Heiland? That's right those fights didn't even happen.Comment

this was taken from an old article that appeared on espn a couple of weeks ago , the info from dan rafael is more up to date, plus i think that hbo will have more to say than chepo, i even heard canelo him self say at the postfight conf form kirkland fight that he will be returning to the ring on september or october...
It is confirmed, former Mexican champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, return to the event next September 12 and was announced by his manager Eddie Reynoso. Although still the opponent of Jalisco is not defined, it looks like it will be Miguel Cotto, coming off successfully defending his WBC title means by knocking in four rounds to Australian Daniel Geale, last Saturday in New York.
"Since we went once and will not be repeated, Saul fight on September 12 and if Mayweather wants the same date on, we will see who wins the battle of PPVs," Reynoso told the Ovations .
"Saul has several options, but the fight with Cotto would be very striking, hopefully we can take that confrontation that would be ideal, but just in case we have plans B and C," he added.
"Mayweather ended booed, while Saul always delivered in each of his fights. The public will know what fight the September 12, but we are sure that everyone will be in our fight," said the manager of 'Canelo'.

Until an announcement comes from HBO, who will be broadcasting this fight, I consider this to be mere posturing. There is no way they can work out a deal with Cotto that fast and no way that HBO will go up against a Floyd PPV. It makes no business sense at all. This is just another way to build up interest in the next Canelo fight.Comment
I really just don't get it. It makes absolutely ZERO business sense to split PPVs. Cotto is there to maximize his money count as far as we know and splitting PPVs is not one way to do that.
