this thread is misinforming people, it really needs to be deleted, bigpoppa pointed this already and even javi(original poster)...
yes I thought it would be too. I was thinking that it was a response to the hbo comments or something until you pointed it out that it was taken from an older interview something like that. Good looking out.
Then go to Mexico and fight. Don't you find it interesting that the says the dates mean so much to him yet he doesn't fight in the country on those dates?
If I told you I was pro USA but wanted to fight on July 4th in Canada, what would you think?
This is some utterly ridiculous logic.
The US is where the mega fights virtually always happen. Canelo fights on an American network, sells out American arenas and does so in front of mostly Mexican fans.
Canada is not the big fight country that the US is, it's not an even remotely comparable situation. Honestly, that's an utterly horrendous viewpoint.

I understand your 2nd paragraph and agree with that point. I find it ridiculous Canelo argues he wants these dates to celebrate Mexican Independence Day and the Battle of Puebla outside of the country these events happened.
If he cut the BS rhetoric out and just said he wants the dates because they are the best to have big boxing events, then ok.
I really just don't get it. It makes absolutely ZERO business sense to split PPVs. Cotto is there to maximize his money count as far as we know and splitting PPVs is not one way to do that.
Cotto stans are obsessed with PPVs like Floyd's fanboys. The funny thing is that Cotto can't even do 350K+ by himself.
You do realize Canelo fights for Mexico and the fights are free pretty much over there.
Splitting is not a great business decision but not everyone is out to get all your money. That's one thing I like about Canelo.
Until you have a signed contract with an opponent and a venue, you don't really have a date. This is just Team Canelo blowing smoke. Everything stands still until Mayweather announces his plans.
word
Floyd will retaliate with an offer to cotto for a rematch. THis news will quietly disappear thereafter. Canelo vs anyone except cotto tanks vs Floyd and cotto rematch. Canelo really needs to fire his team. Or if its canelo pushing this issue then he is a certified dumbazz and buck him. Let Floyd retire in peace.
Nelo has a right to go after that date...Floyd been using the Mexican holiday dates for too long now....time to fall back and let Nelo have those dates...it's only right imo

And one thing I like about Cotto is some brat with a grudge isn't going to force him to fight on any date he doesn't want to because it'll cost him money.
