I agree that Wilder has the looks and the charisma to make it big, and his big punching style is tailor made for casual fans, but for whatever reason he's unwilling to test himself against quality opponents. I thought that the Stiverne win might have made him come out of his shell and allow him to realise that he has the ability to hang with the best in the world, but instead he goes back and fights the sort of bum that wouldn't have been out of place ten fights ago. It's just not acceptable.
Casual fans might not be the most knowledgeable guys in the world but even they can tell when you're knocking over stiffs, and that has only a limited appeal after a while. Wilder can definitely become a major attraction in this current heavyweight climate. Trouble is he wants have his cake and eat it. He wants to be a superstar without taking on the opponents that would allow him to shine.
