Why is Wilder still acting like he's a fragile up and comer when he's already got the WBC belt?
Well willing to fight for a nice fat payday and willing to fight just for the opportunity are different things right? Someone like Thompson knows they've maximized their potential and are trying to maximize their profit. Maybe the price was just too steep?

Besides, if he beat TT, people would just say "Thompson is 43, who cares, just another bum for Wilder, blah, blah, blah". It won't matter until he beats Wlad..

It does. Boxing was at its highest prominence when American Heavyweights were on top of the boxing world

Some might, but it'd also be a quality name on his resume, which Molina will never be.

Nobody would say this because Thompson would be the second best name on his record and the fact that Thompson is top 15 in the division and one of the top guys in the WBC rankings and has been facing top guys in the division lately.

As sad as it is, Tony Thompson at 40+ is a top heavyweight.

I would definitely give him credit, don't get me wrong. I respect TT all the way. But in the larger scheme of things, beating TT isn't going to make the doubters respect Deontay any more than Molina. For them, anything sort of Wlad is a joke fight..

What does it matter what others opinions are when the facts of the fighters are right there? I bet if you posted a poll right now people would probably vote Thompson over Molina hands down lol. You need to stop letting your made up opinions of others influence you

Molina got stopped in 1 round by Chris Arreola and Tony Thompson has been fighting Solis, Takam, and Pulev.

As far as ratings in the US go? Or biggest star who happens to be American? Because TONS of guys will outdraw him. If we are just saying most popular American fighter, then he has a shot. Ward is our best fighter after Floyd and he can't draw. But if that is all the threshold is, top American draw, then that's pretty much wide open to anyone who gets a big push from a network. Crawford could be that guy if he keeps stopping people and moves up with all the exposure HBO is giving him.

Not so sure about that. If anything they want Broner or Garcia to take over the game. It's easier to market the lighter weight guys compared to Wilder who happens to compete in a bum division. Wilder is legitimate though, don't get it twisted.

Heavyweight boxing is different; Wilder, even at 30, likely still has at least 20 fights and possibly another decade to go with his career.
