This guy can't be serious... PPV?!?! Even if it was Froch vs GGG instead of GGG vs Degale, that's still HBO Boxing After Dark material... Only hardcore fans know the Cobra. I'd even be willing to bet more people know GGG here in the states. That fight only makes sense in Britain where it can be maximized for what it is. It may be PPV on SkySports locally over there... No chance in America

In the last few weeks, Loeffler was attempted to get Golovkin in the ring with top super middleweight star Carl Froch of Nottingham. Golovkin was willing to move up to 168-pounds and also had no issue with facing Froch on UK soil.

Speak the truth and shame the devil; that 154-168 nonsense was pure marketing schtick, and hopefully everyone finally acknowledges what Golovkin is, a middleweight fighter, toiling in arguably the worst time period for middleweights in recent history, with no actual ambition to challenge himself in any real way.

But I think they have done a fantastic job so far. They took an unknown fighter and in just 2 yrs 9 months he has become one of the most talked about fighters in the world in spite of the fact that he comes from a country with no boxing demographic whatsoever.
Which is GGG fighting? B level fighters or bums - or are they one and the same in your opinion? And in Cotto's last 3 fights I have him fighting 2 B level fighters - would you agree? Many would say that with Martinez' injuries he was a a 'B' level fighter ability-wise if not in name.
GGG has been fighting B level fighters. Cotto fighting those same B level guys earns at least equal credit because he's in his 4th weightclass. CW or not Cotto KO'd Geale in the same time as GGG. He started at JWW, GGG is where he started... Cotto had a 3 inch height and 4 inch reach disadvantage, he was also 20 pounds smaller. GGG was even if not longer and heavier than Geale.
Martinez is a B-level fighter now? We knew about the knee injury, Cotto was still a 3-1 underdog. We knew about the injury going into the Martin Murray fight, he couldn't get Sergio out of there. He's also 5 inches taller than Cotto, who knows how much longer and easily 20+ pounds heavier. He didn't beat a crippled Martinez. Again... this is in Cotto's 4th weightclass not 4th. You can discredit Cotto's wins all you want. But Geale and Martinez is a lot better than Martinez and Geale. In two fights a former JWW matched GGG's did better in GGG's best two MW wins.
GGG still beats Cotto.

Let's compare this to Hopkins who was 37 years old before he hit the lottery when Trinidad finally fought him. He was 36 when Holmes fought him due to the King tournament. Despite starting his career at LHW, he never bother to move up and challenge himself. The MW division was no better then than now. Hell after Trinidad, Hopkins turned down a multi-million dollar deal with Showtime to fight Harry Simon and Joe Calzaghe and instead went back to fighting guys with no chance like Carl Daniels, Hakkar, and a shot Joppy. During the RJJ negotiations, Bernard called out Ottke & Michalzewski. When they came back with offers he balked. He never left MW til Jermain Taylor kicked him out.

They've had a 10 year start in the game to grow themselves. GGG has done well in 2 years, it's not 10 years. It's not "pay your dues" it's... it takes time to become a star and they want the fast track and are going there because he took his time becoming a pro. That's his own damn fault.

GGG still beats Cotto.
But whatever. Beating Geale at a CW straight after he'd been destroyed by GGG proved nothing except that Cotto didn't even have enough confidence to fight one of GGG's leftovers without draining him first.
And don't try and say that 3lbs didn't mean anything. If it didn't mean anything Cotto wouldn't have insisted on having it.
And remember, Cotto only got the crippled, CW version of Martinez because the fully fit, 160lb version refused to fight GGG, even though GGG offered to go to Argentina for only 15% of the purse.

And I know Sergio picked Cotto, because ALL fighters, even the precious Sergio fight for money. He was saying how much a champion should come in 2nd and announced last because that's boxing. Apparently side-stepping GGG to fight Cotto was best for MW? No, he just like everyone else fights for money.
It's why GGG can't get a fight, he has fans, he gets ratings. Currently though, other people get more it's that simple.
