Actually I had an entire post written to you but decided you are just not worth the time to get into a discussion with. You can go back to sucking on Al's ****.
Don't get it twisted, you didn't post it because your weak minded. That's why. I'm the furthest from a haymon fan too. I could give two ****s about him.

PBC is in the televised boxing business, if they are good at that the brand holds value. If someone was to buy PBC I am sure they would have a pretty solid agreement on what they are getting out if it beyond 3 letters, a ring and a stage. Once it has TV deals those are worth a metric ****ton and it will have those lined up (or that if it is an exclusive) before these time buys are up.

Why are you so upset at PBC? What has PBC done to you?

In other words, PBC has nothing at all to sell. There is nothing stopping a network starting up their own weekly or bi-weekly or monthly boxing program and promoting it themselves and paying fighters to fight on their program. You know... like HBO does it?

Now if PBC can build up their ratings to the level of the NFL or MLB and get their brand known as THE brand for boxing, you might be able to get a deal that is worth something to ONE network. But thinking that this is a done deal is delusional. It has never worked in the past and there is no reason to believe it would work now.

They don't even need to up their rating much, as long as they hold steady it will work out just fine for them.

The same HBO that has consistently slashed their boxing budget year over year? Sure a network could do that, could have done that for a long time. As time passes PBC will become more established and will mean something as a brand.

Also if someone was to buy out PBC I am sure it would include a deal to exclusively show Haymon's guys.

I don't think it is a done deal, I think it is a huge risk because boxing is a notoriously risky game. With great risks however come great rewards if it works. It is a long ways off from making any kind of judgement like that though. Saying it won't at this point is just being a naysayer

No network is going to take that on. They don't have the expertise in the business. They don't know to manage fighters, matchmaking, promotion, scouting prospects, managing fights and venues, officials, the hundreds of skills it takes to make fights go off.

Why invest the money into creating the NBC Basketball Association when you can just buy NBA rights?

And no one has tried it to this scale. 425 million behind it

Deals would have to signed individually with each fighter to fight exclusively on PBC. Attempting to do that with the number of fighters who engage Haymon as an 'advisor' would lead to legal issues regarding anti-trust legislation as it would be considered an attempt to monopolize the sport. Considering the existing legal issues, I doubt that any network would go anywhere near that kind of an agreement. If fact, until the current legal issues are resolved, I doubt that any network would be interested in negotiating with Haymon for any kind of contract.

And his current ratings and advertising income are nowhere close to what he would need to win a deal with a major network. They do not put shows on television that lose money. At the rate PBC has gone so far, it would be on the chopping block already. These days programs with MUCH higher ratings than PBC don't make it through their first season. Networks are not investors who are patient to see a return on their money.

Yea it is not that hard to work around~

If his numbers just stay the same he will get a fat TV contract at the end, I guarantee it. Sports are on a totally different scale, than scripted or reality TV because people have to watch them live. So you really don't get the dynamics going on at all, because sports are the be all and end all with TV right now, stuff with worse ratings (soccer or hockey) have major TV deals. Even NBA and MLB have bad ratings compared to the highest rated shows.

Sports properties are going through the roof because you are exactly correct, it's the only thing people watch in real time. The same fund that invested in PBC invested $1.5 billion on Formula 1. Formula 1!!! Who in the heck watches Formula 1?

Any TV sports assets are going to get mega-valuations at this point..

                  • The only thing that is gonna make Pbc succeed is if they step up the match making..

UFC grew because even though PRIDE had lots of talented fighters, ufc always matched their guys tough... They have always been good at making a divisional champ and contenders fight top opponents...

Haymon has the roster, but his matchmaking needs to step up, otherwise it's no better than hbo, showtimr etc..
It's not a coincidence that the best fights on pbc so far have been the best matchups..
Haymon needs to be making his guys fight it out, the cream will rise to the top...

No one is gonna get excited about lackluster matchups, let alone casual fans...
