We can argue if Roach is a good trainer or not, but the truth is, Roach has given Cotto confidence and it shows.
Cotto said it best... He was not 100% for the Trout fight. Cotto was expecting an easy night as we all were. EVEN still, it was a competitive fight. Cotto is working harder in training these days and it shows... He is pissed, determined and understand this is the twilight of his legacy. He is putting in that work...

So you don't think the extra three pounds that Geale had to cut weakened him at all and you think a current version of Cotto would do much better against Trout.

Shallow thinking. Coaches can't be ranked in a lateral scale of quality. What truly matters is that a fighter connects with that coach. It's not computation, it's a personal relationship with an educator and there's many things that come into play. It's not unreasonable for him to think that Roach is able to get through to Cotto like no one else has. After all, Cotto himself just SAID IT.

LMAO Cotto looks like a shot feather fisted fighter every time he fight someone with a pulse then looks like hulk every time he fights a cripple. But its Roach who's making all the difference!!!!!!!!!!!

I think he would do better, but I honestly don't know if he would win a part of me is thinking that he is rejuvenated, while the other part is thinking that he has just been matched perfectly and that as soon he faces a prime opponent he'll likely lose again.I guess the Canelo fight will answer a lot of these questions.

Agreed. Case in point, look at the way Cotto just pivoted and ate jabs in the Trout fight. Since then, he's been live on his feet, moving both laterally and, once again, showing the ability to dart in and out. I'd still root for Austin but I'd be seriously worried for him.

I truly don't, what you saw tonight is geale. A basic boxer afraid to sit on his shots because of his fear of return fire. And ya I think cotto would smash trout now.

I remember him punching Trout to the body and it looked like he was punching the trunk of a tree, the punches were having no effect. I don't think that would happen today the way Cotto has been going to the body.

Factor in Trout being dropped by that middling Aussie a couple of times and I think Cotto takes him out.

That was a very lackluster performance from Miguel Cotto that night, even still I thought it was pretty close and he'd smash Trout in a rematch. He should have fought Trout last night and he would have already avenged two of his 4 losses.
