Was Paul Williams the closest we've had to Thomas Hearns since the 80's?

Hearns had a solid chin. People are foolish to think his KO's were for lack of chin. They were because he was too aggressive for his own good and didn't clinch or back up when hurt. He stayed in the danger zone and traded, which cost him fights.

A ****** one at that. Hearns wasn't stopped by the same level of competition as Khan.

Not even close. Paul Williams was a B-/C+ fighter. The only thing he excelled at was his punch output.

One threw pitch perfect straight punches with crippling power and the other with wide looping punches with little power. May as well ask if Pauli Mallinaggi is today's answer for Roberto Duran.

No, Hearns was great. Williams was good but because of his tragic accident some give him credit for being much better than he really was. Watch what Lara did to him and I think you will see he is not in Hearn's class.
