WTF??? So many people in here don't know anything about weight limits. It's kinda embarrassing.

No this just prove he's not a MW, so drop the title and leave so real MW's could fight for a new 160 king, instead of Cotto draining MW's down he could get bigger fights down in JMW.

He is probably going to be close to 170 pound by fight night. I keep reading about how Cotto is not a true middle weight when it is actually Geale and the rest of the division which are not TRUE middleweights. They all come in at well over 160 pound on fight night. It is the same in all division except the heavyweights. These cats weigh in 24 hours prior at the limit of a division and then blow up to one or two divisions above the limit. Bogus! They should bring back same day weigh-ins Make these guys fight men their own size! lol
Oh that would make Triple G a Light-Heavyweight because he is normally 170 or so on fight night.
Oh I am not partial, Cotto, Canelo, Money, Pac, Margarito, Mosley, all of them played the same game when at lower weight classes.
Bring back same day weigh-ins and see where all these cats are going to be forced to fight at.

He sounds like he might be fine tomorrow. I still think the speed difference cause Geale the most problems, but he knows enough to protect himself from Cotto's left, and he won't come into this fight with diminished punch resistance like Martinez did b/c had almost no sparring in his training camp.

All that would achieve is getting a ton of boxers to move one or more divisions above where they currently are. You would still have the same names in each division. The only division that would really change would be heavyweight where you would have most of the current LHW and CW fighters moving up there. This would require the creation of a SUPER Heavyweight division to accommodate the current HW fighters.

A much better idea would be to return to the original 8 weight classes and to eliminate catchweight title fights.

              Just you.

Cotto looks filled. Geale looks like a tall flyweight.

And if they strip a champ for weighing over, why not, for not even weighing at the minimum?

But Dawson wasnt defending his LHW title, he chose to go down if i remember correctly. That was probably the best fight Ward has given fans lol
I know the situation wasnt the same. My point was, that Dawson made weight and looked awesome ON THE SCALES. But those of us who knew, knew that he was gonna look like **** in the ring.

I think a different way of seeing this, is that given that Cotto came in at 153.5, then a fight at true middleweight is not possible because he will demand CWs.

This gives him ammunition to demand a fight with GGG at 155. Which is fair to Cotto, but it's not fair to GGG or right given that the 160 title would be a stake.

It's one thing coming in at 153 to fight at 160 if your opponent is free to fight at 160, but the CW is what makes it absurd. What if he demands that every MW that fights him comes in at a lower weigh, then what's the point of being a MW if you don't want them MW?
