    The Ali aftertaste....

I am not degrading Ali, I am simply saying that a lot of people's opinion of who the greatest boxer ever is, is influence by their personality and outside of the ring achievments which makes it hard for any other fighter, not matter how good, to surpass Ali.

Let's face it, there have been more skillful fighters than Ali who have achieved more in BOXING. Very very few, but some. I am just saying that because Ali achieved so much outside of the ring he will always be the most 'loved boxer'. The guy is boxing.

But from a boxing standpoint, there is no doubt that a lot of people are influenced by his personality and non-boxing related accomplishments that no matter how good a fighter may be... it is near impossible for a the world to accept there's a greater fighter than Muhammad ALI.

It's hard for me to say Ali is the greatest Boxer to ever live if we are to focus purely on the sport itself, boxing skills and accomplishments.

Please understand that I am not degrading Ali, just stating that some influences of the opinions of many.

Ali is the greatest HW ever for me and I'd wager for most. He is a AT P4P top 10 guy - so his hype as a boxer is justified. He of course became more than a boxer and became bigger than boxing. He is a superstar - his face is world famous.

The only other boxer with anything like that sort of global name recognition is Mike Tyson. Now Mike is not loved like Ali - he is more infamous than loved- but everyone knows who Tyson is.

I agree, absolutely. But as a boxer, it is hard to say he is the greatest BOXER, his hype his justified of course but focusing on the sport itself, few have surpassed his skill and achievements in the sport

Ali simply isn't the greatest boxer ever.

But he's top 5 P4P and at worst the second best 200lb+ ever!

Look at Ali's resume. He beat Liston and Frazier twice, and defeated Foreman. Beating Ken Norton is also impressive.

Granted, I'm not sure Ali legitimately won ALL of those fights (Norton probably won 2 out of 3; Frazier may have also), but that's still an absolutely MONSTER resume that no other HW in history can quite equal.

The greatest HW yes but greatest boxer ever to fight, I can't say he is.

                Ali is boxing.

No matter what you think, where he should be ranked, ATG number 1 or not. Ali is boxing. Not a single person in the world doesnt know who Ali is.

100% but it's hard to say he is the greatest boxer to live, P4P No1.
