If that's the case then by all means retire or let go of the belt. As an athlete that gets paid millions of dollars at the expense of the fans the athlete will always feel pressure to perform no matter the sport. I can see you are a fan of Cotto or maybe you just dislike GGG, whatever the reason you might have, as a fan, you should never settle for enough. If you are a world class boxer that is ranked #1 then your only job is to fight the #2 and that is what you should be clamoring for. Never give a fighter a pass just because you like him/her or because you are a fan, in fact if you are a fan you should be the one asking for more, after all it is your money and time that is giving that fighter the ability to live a lavish lifestyle and feed his family.
At the end of the day, I don't care about belts and I don't view Cotto as a middleweight. I view Cotto at middleweight very similar to how I view Floyd as a jr middleweight. Sure, they're the lineal champs in those divisions. And yes, they moonlight in those divisions when the risk/reward warrents it. But, neither has anything to do with the legitimate landscapes of those divisions. So in my mind, GGG is already the class of the middleweight division, whether he has the lineal strap or not. So in my mind, a fighter had to beat GGG to become the true king of middleweights. So Cotto needs GGG to claim middleweight supremacy, not visa versa. And personally, I think Cotto couldn't care less about being seen as the class of that division. Therefore ge doesn't need GGG, especially at this stage of his career.

The USA doesn't do well in amateur boxing anymore, because other countries just got better at boxing. It's even more noticeable in the pros now that more and more foreign fighters are turning pro and doing great in it. People hate change, that's why there seems to be an anti-foreign fighter "fans" (groups) out there that dislike fighters such as GGG. They try to descredit them ever which way. I think people should just like and support a fighter because they like their styles in and outside the ring.

Well I got off topic and into a rant, my bad.
I don't have an issue with foreign fighters. I have a problem with ovethyped fighters, which GGG is. Not saying he isn't talented. But, the hype far exceeds the accomplishments at this point.

Yeah, I understand but why hate GGG because of some fans? Fans have always been like that, crazy and overhyped. There is fans that just get on the bandwagon because it's the "cool" thing to do and in turn makes us true fans of the fighter (in this case GGG) look bad. I know GGG still has more to accomplish that's why I don't go around saying he's the best Middleweight of all time, since I know he has to do more. Don't listen to the crazy fans (I know it's diffcult to do) or at least don't dislike someone just because of the crowd behind them.

Yea that left hook had nothing to do with winning the fight. Shaw is a clown.

You may not have a problem with foreign fighters in general but you definitely without exception hate all fighters from certain countries. Why be so timid about it?

Which country is that? Because honestly, I don't even know where most fighters are from, GGG included.

People acting as if The Geale fight is what defines Cotto. Its a stay busy fight for the next big fight. And if Cottos resume is going to be questioned, go back to 140 not just the fights they randomly pick. He beat top fighters many undefeated in their primes. If you actually followed the sport youd know who they are.He lost to Trout when he should had won oh well. fighters like Trout and Winky are always avoided. high risk low reward.Geale was regarded as a good fight for GGG best opponent to date they said, and hes just a stay busy fight Saturday.Depending on who the Boxer is changes peoples point of view on here **** is funny. Especially the ones that said a 40% Martinez kills Cotto.
