Why do people act like Floyd is in a league of his own?

Exactly. It's based on accomplishments and the fact that he's proven himself for nearly 20 years as a pro.
The others still have some proving to do in their longevity. They are VERY skilled and from the looks of it, have skill to rival Mayweather. But it takes more than skill, more than fast hands, more than power, more than a chin, etc to stay at the top the way the HOF elite have.
They still have to prove that their skill is also matched by their will, dedication and longevity. There have been MANY "skilled" fighters. No one said Mayweather is the only one.
Rigo - biggest wins are vs Donaire and Agbeko
Loma - biggest win vs Russell Jr., loss to Salido
They are incredibly skilled and have notched some big wins so far. But not even a handful of big wins combined so far. That's ok. They simply have more to prove. You'll be remembered for your skill only for so long. If you can't make a great career out of it (loss of focus, lack of dedication, changing who you are, other things), it only means so much.Comment

I have Leonard right there with Floyd, arguably above him, but I think people need to look at Leonard with the same critical eye they look at Floyd as far as resumes go. You'll see that you can also say about SRL's resume that he also fought some guy past their prime, he also missed a couple fighters who would have been tough tests. You know why? Because every boxer in history has the same things, you can't fight everyone and you miss more of them in their primes than you hit, that's just the nature of the game. SRR, SRL, Duran, even Ali all have some guys they missed fighting in their primes and all weren't able to fight every single threat to them. That's just what happens, especially when you get to the elite level where you're only fighting twice a year.
All of this is why Mayweather's rank in the top 10 won't really be settled for another decade or two when all of the biases can be set aside. In 20 years people aren't going to remember that Mosely might have been past his prime, just like no one remembers that Hagler was past it vs Leonard. You fight the guys when you can, it takes a ton to make a big fight, always has taken a ton. That's why anyone who watched SRR fight can list some names he didn't get to fight that he should have or list some older fighters that he beat.
When it's all said and done, Mayweather will be universally top 5 IMO and he'll be in the discussion for TBE.Comment

Looks like we have some UFC fans in here!!!
Boxing is an art and Mayweather is the Leonardo in the sport.
So many people have tried to solve his puzzle and can't.
Check Boxrec and you will see the competition he has faced.
Any true boxing fan and I mean a fan that actually knows about boxing will understand why Mayweather is in a class of his own...Comment

Name one fight that he has fought that was close to the level of Leonard fighting a prime Durn or Hearns and even Benitez ?
You fight guys when you can take them? Why did he wait 5 yrs and for Manny to be knocked out for him to fight him ? The biggest con job in boxing is is Mayweather ..He sure as hell racked up names but waited for most of them to lose a step or,two ..Also Leonard Didnt pick certain styles to fight like Floyd so he could protect his record .. Ther is no way in hell Floyd deserves a top ten spot or even be mentioned in the same breath as Sugar Ray Leonard !Comment

Come on man, I get you can hold Floyd accountable for not giving Manny what he wanted to make the fight earlier, but the other 3 guys you can't really be serious.Comment
